I told my son that he is ready to be alpha. That he must fight me and that he must win. I told him he must challenge me in front of the whole pack and I told him not to worry about me, not to miss me, just do what needs to be done.

At first, my son was hesitant but I poured every piece of my broken heart into him. Left myself vulnerable enough that I could feel power moving from me to him. He might not have realised it but his wolf gained enough power to notice that I needed to be removed. That I was a threat to all of his hard work as alpha.

Today I walk into the challenging field. My back is straight, and my eyes glisten as I look into my beautiful son's eyes.

We start to circle each other and Nathaniel's eyes were glistening with unshed tears. He knew what was going to happen. He knows that I want my death and he's so heartbroken.

"Son, I love you so much. This is for the greater good. Thank you for trusting me, thank you for loving me, and please don't let my death affect the way you will live." I whispered into his ear. Gaining the attention of most of my pack who've heard.

We shift into our wolves. His was a midnight black wolf with piercing blue eyes. His wolf was tall it was taller than mine for sure. His wolf is towering over mine and I am honestly so proud of my son.

His wolf lunges at me aiming for my legs. He is attached to me and Nathaniel is holding back. He isn't trying to kill me.

So this time I lunge, growling softly at my son and watching the way his eyes jumped open in surprise. I get a good bite out of his stomach and I try to snap at him again when he dodges.

His wolf growls loudly, fiercely like a savage. He jumps in the air and I try to roll away from him. But he's pinned me down and I can't get up. I snap at his stomach his legs anything to get away from him. He bites down on my jugular holding me there. I let out a strangled whimper of defeat and I look into those grey eyes. He knows that I've submitted to him and so does the whole pack.

The alpha title belongs to him now. 

'finish me, and remember I love you. Treat your mate and your mate's family with care. Be yourself and be good to this pack. Don't miss me too much though bud I'll be with you till the very day you die.'

A tear escapes his eyes and his gray eyes which look so much like his mother's are glassy. 

'I love you too dad, I will I promise.'

I take one last look at my miracle son and give him a big wolfy smile in reassurance as he cries. With all the remaining energy left in me, I lick his cheek. For the last moment of my life, I said two last words that made me cry.

'Goodbye son.'

My vision is becoming spotty and my ears seem to be ringing. My whole face feels so relaxed and I feel like I'm floating.

When I look up at the sky past the darkness and into the light I see my mate. Looking oh so beautiful and elegant. She smiled at me looking so peaceful, so happy. She's standing there, her brown skin sparkling as the sun hits and she just crooks her finger at me, signaling me to follow her. I sigh, happy I'm finally able to have a future with her. A future with the mate I've yearned for, for what feels like forever. I smile.

I take one last ragged breath and fall into a never-ending slumber. Finally, I am at peace. There isn't any more agony.
