Chapter 9

Luke took Rose's hand and sat her down with him on the couch. Her heartbeat rose by the second, scared at what he had to say. Luke noticed but didn't say anything to calm her because he knew what he was going to say would only bring back her worries.
"I need to know why you ran away from England, no more avoiding this situation" Luke said sternly and Rose gulped.
"I-I can't, I won't" she replied with a bit of confidence.
"You have to, it's important for me to know!" Luke raised his voice, as all the confidence Rose once had drained from her body. She shook her head in shame.
"I-I was e-exiled from my pack" she whispered.
"You what? Why?" Luke shouted. Rose cowered away from him and pulled her knees to her chest, burying her head in them. She began shaking, scared what would do. "Answer me!" He continued "what was it you did?" He asked now angry. Being exiled was the result of doing something so bad, in the human world it could probably lead to capital punishment or life long imprisonment.
"I don't want to tell you" she sobbed, still shaking.
"You have to!" Luke told her angrily "It's incredibly important for you to tell me so I can protect my pack!". Rose lifted her head to look at him.
"From me?" She whispered sadly, looking him dead in the eyes. "Nothing's ever going to change, wherever I go".
"What's that supposed to mean? What you did was so bad your pack couldn't trust you, so how can we?" He replied calmer than earlier but still anger was in his voice.
"They never trusted me, no one ever has. They hated me and now you hate me as well?" She asked sadly.
"I don't hate you, I'm just angry that you could do something like that. What was it?" Luke questioned.
"I-uh I killed the beta" Rose cried shaking her head vigorously. "It was an accident, I swear!" She sobbed.
"What?!" He replied astonished and somewhat scared of what she was capable of. Such a young sweet looking girl killed someone, was he hearing things?
"He was teasing me and pushing me, like he always did. I wasn't having a very good day. So I pushed him back a-and he fell onto a rake that pierced through it chest" Rose continued to cry, reliving that night, every detail pictured in her mind from the argument to being chased out of town.
Luke swallowed "W-We're going to have to keep a close eye on you and monitor your behaviour, what you did was wrong, even if it was an accident you killed someone." Rose nodded in reply her sobbing dying down.
"O-Ok, I'm so so sorry for what I did, I'm never going to forget it." She wiped away her tears looking back at Luke. He cautiously reached for Rose's back and rubbed it slightly.
"Just promise me you'll think of your actions before you do anything stupid" she asked politely. Rose nodded but she suddenly became slightly angry.
"Me think before my actions? Me? Did anyone say that to the wolves bullying me and pushing me around? No!" She growled "it's unfair that I make one stupid mistake and everyone hates me but everyone else gets away with bullying me!" She cried letting out almost everything she had been bottling up, with no one to talk to back in England it was impossible for her to talk about what she felt like.
"I know it's unfair but you killed someone, they didn't, you have to accept that you're more in the wrong than they are" Luke replied soothingly, trying to calm her down, now knowing what she was capable of.
Rose began laughing coldly "see that's where you're wrong because my society killed the real me a long time ago."
