The elevator doors opened, but when you moved to exit, Keigo held you tighter to his warm body. "Hold on." He demanded, shrugging off his khaki jacket and dropping it over your shoulders. "It's fifty out, and It'll be colder in the air." He warned you before you could protest. You blushed wildly. Was he BLIND? Did he have NO idea what the press would think if they saw the two of you like this- what your COWORKERS were probably thinking when you stepped out of the elevator together?

Hawks bent slightly, not even waiting for you to leave the building before pulling you into his arms, sweeping under your legs and carrying you like a bride. Your blush only worsened. You briefly questioned his sanity, along with your own, when you felt the harsh stares from other workers in the building on your backs as you passed through the revolving front doors, but the thought soon answered itself as Keigo wasted no time absolutely throwing himself into the air. You gasped, looking down at the ground below in wonder. You had some anxieties, sure- no one LIKES heights (Unless of course they had been blessed with wings- lucky bastards.) But you knew definitively that Hawks would NOT drop you. He wouldn't let you get hurt- he was a HERO. You relaxed in his grip, taking in the beautiful city below.

"You doing alright there, Baby bird?" Keigo asked, but when you looked up, he wasn't looking at you, focused on moving forward. God above, how long would it take to get to the restaurant. You knew you weren't light. You were a grown adult.

"Yeah- It's so pretty up here." You murmured, keeping your eyes trained on the cityscape below to distract you from your more impure thoughts.

"Sure is." He chuckled warmly, and you could have sworn his grip tightened.

Keigo landed gently on the ground, but his touch lingered around your shoulders -never dipping lower than your upper back. His coat still hung over your torso- he was much taller than you, so it hung nearly to your knees. Keigo's embrace was so warm, you could feel his heat even through the coat, AND your beloved maroon sweater. Was HE sick? You glanced up at him. His cheeks were flushed, his hair windswept. A soft, calm smile ghosted his lips. His eyes were happy, HE was happy. Definitely not sick. You looked away, at the mostly empty street. You'd frequent this restaurant for a reason- it was in a pretty secluded part of town.

You'd never seen more than four people on this street at the same time, and the aloneness of it all brought you great comfort. With an exception of a few close school friends, and your cat, you didn't much like company. You liked your safe solitude, being able to behave however you wanted without worrying about prying eyes or people asking questions. Now, showing your favorite little hole-in-the-wall restaurant to Keigo- well, it felt like you were completely naked, despite the several layers of clothing adorning your body.

Keigo's arm never left your shoulders. Not when you walked through the door, not when you ordered, not when you received your food, and not even when you sat down in a booth to eat. He simply slid in next to you, as opposed to the empty seat directly across from you, trapping you between his warm body and the wall. You understood, after a moment of confusion. He needed to be able to watch the door. A common occurrence for heroes and veterans- watch the entrances and exits at all times- a reflex. You understood that. You also understood what he didn't just ask you to move- he was polite, after all. Incredibly polite. A proper gentleman. A man to take home to the parents, a man who would make an amazing husb- No. You didn't want to think like that. He was your BOSS. He was responsible for keeping you safe, nothing more. This entire outing, It was because you made him worry about you. You tried not to feel the butterflies at the idea of him worrying for you- you reminded yourself it was just in his nature as a hero to do so.

But, it was nice to dream, wasn't it?

Keigo ordered the exact thing you had, mentioning something about "Needing to try new things.". You reached for your wallet to pay, but he almost forcefully pressed your arm back down to your side. You didn't want to be rude and reject him. You'd tried not to think too much about that- but honestly, all you'd been doing all day was overthinking. You hoped he hadn't noticed that. You ate quietly, but he hummed the entire time, even with food in his mouth, even while chewing. He hummed, and tapped his feet audibly under the cherrywood table. You felt the need to fill the silence you were creating.
