~ Chapter 12 ~

Present Day
~The Amazon

Walking out of the building I see no sign of Druig anywhere.

Letting out a sigh, I made my way down the steps ignoring the stares of the people. That was until I felt a tug on the end of my dress.

Looking down I see Maeve looking up at me with her big brown eyes.

She has a frown on her face making her chubby cheeks stick out more.

"What is it Maeve?" I asked, kneeling down in front of her.

She said nothing but pointed inside the woods where you could see a clearing visible.

Frowning I turned back to Maeve, "What are you pointing at?" I asked.

"Mr. Druig." She said, still pointing at the woods.

Still not understanding I looked back and forth between the woods and Maeve until it finally clicked.

"Druig went into the woods didn't he? After he stormed out the building?" I asked in realization.

She nodded her head happily making her two pigtails go up and down.

"Thank you Maeve! You can get a treat in Druig and I's room if you'd like?" I said, making her show me a toothy grin.

I gave her a kiss on the cheek before heading into the woods.

Finally making it into the clearing I see Druig sitting on a rock looking out to the lake.

The sounds were him skipping rocks and the birds singing.

Slowly walking towards him, I sat beside him just looking out to the lake—-not wanting him to rush with talking.

After a few moments I heard him take a deep breath while he stopped throwing rocks.

"I'm sorry." I heard him whisper.

Turning my head towards him I saw he was still looking ahead but his face was covered with a deep frown.

"For what?" I asked, scooting closer.

"For letting my anger get the best of me back there. I didn't mean to go off like that and then just leave." He said, looking down at his hands.

"Druig you have nothing to be sorry for. Everything you said back there was justifiable." I said, putting a hand on his shoulder.

He finally looked back up at me with tears lining his eyes.

"Do you agree with me? With what I said?" He asked.

"Of course I do Druig. I've believed you since the beginning of time, nothing about that has changed." I said, cupping his cheek.

"But, you do know that we have to go right?" I said, making him nod.

"I was afraid you'd say that." He said, smiling sadly.

"Druig no matter how mad we may be with our family for what they've done—-we still have to remember that they're our family." I said, rubbing his cheek softly with my thumb.

"Because if the roles were reversed and we were the ones coming to them asking for help you know we'd want them to agree." I said, moving my hand to his hair—-running my fingers through it.

He let out a content sigh making me smile softly at the beautiful man in front of me.

"But I just can't get out of mind about what could happen to you Freya. If what they're saying is true, then this could be our most dangerous mission yet, and I cant risk anything happening to you." He said, while a tear fell.

"Druig you have to understand that I can take care of myself. I know that under some circumstances it may not seem like it but we have to at least try. We're talking about the end of the world Druig. Meaning that everybody—-the people in our village, our people could die. And you know we made a vow to protect these people till the end of time." I said.

"Do you trust me Druig?" I whispered, leaning my forehead against his.

"With everything I have my beautiful Freya." He whispered, while resting his hands on my waist.

"Then trust me when I say that we need to help them and go. We have a good group of people in the village that are willing to take charge for just a few months. Please Druig." I said, cupping his cheeks.

"I trust you Freya. And if you're one hundred percent confident in what we're doing then I'll be with you every step of the way." He said before pressing his lips to mine.

Letting out a gasp I deepened the kiss—-wrapping my hands around his neck pulling him closer.

He groaned against my lips, tightening his hold on my waist before moving me to straddle his lap.

Pulling away out of breath—-I stared at Druig for a moment before he started attacking my neck.

Leaving kiss after kiss all around making me moan every time he nipped a spot under my ear.

"God Druig." I whispered in bliss. Tilting my head back in pleasure, Druig continued to trail kissed down my collarbone.

Running my fingers through his hair, I tugged making him groan before I pulled him up and smashed my lips to his.

The only sounds were our heavy breathing and our moans mixing with each other's.

"God Freya, I'm absolutely crazy about you, you know that right?" He whispered against my lips before smashing them against mine.

Too consumed by the kiss we barely heard the loud roar until we felt the ground shake and people start to scream.

Abruptly pulling away from Druig and ignoring his disheveled hair and red and swollen lips—-I looked past his shoulder.

"Did you hear that?" I said, looking back at Druig with a frown.

Right at that moment we heard another roar and what sounded like a building crashing down making Druig and I instantly stand up.

"Please don't tell me..." I said, looking at Druig with dread.

"I'm afraid so darling." He said, his eyes filled with nothing but regret and dread.

"Time to save our village?" I asked, turning towards Druig.

"Time to save our village."
