Once Upon A Hot Summer

Once upon a hot summer,
you made it to my front door,
for me to finally get a hold of you.
I wanted to hold you forever,
and never let go.

After months of longing,
of craving your touch,
I finally had you;
so close to my chest,
so close to my heart.
I wanted to hold you forever,
and never let go.

Never have I ever felt so deeply,
Never have I ever loved so deeply.

You were my hope,
the hope I never found in love.
The hope for a fantasy to be fulfilled.
A hope I strongly believed in,
until I hope no more;
no more and never again.

My heart was snatched right out of my chest
that I love no more.

The warmth of the sun that you once planted
inside of me,
has been replaced
by the scratching summer heat.

And what has started of as the warmest summer day,
ended as that day that burned both our souls to the ground.
