Azmina's POV:
I went straight to the sleeping quarters when the whistle blew.
I didn't want to witness another death. Or another six for that matter.
The team followed behind me, Emily lagging behind, eyes darting around the place. I didn't ask why she was acting suspiciously. I figured she was on edge from the shootings.
Then again, I didn't know for sure.
I opened the door to the girls sleeping rooms. We walked into this massive open corridor with seven doors on either side. Each door had a name of the school you went to. I looked around for a door that said Pine Hill Academy and eventually found it at the end of the hallway.
I opened it and inside I found six mattresses lying on the floor and the bathroom door open. There was a window that was bolted shut and by the looks of it, the glass was really thick. It wasn't so bad considering we were going to be here for a long time.
The room was dark, even with the curtain open. Light barely filtered through the fabric and it made the room eerie.
"Wow," Maeve says. "This is- boring."
I sigh and sit down. "At least the beds are comfortable."
Juno sits beside me and feels the mattress for a moment. "That's true," she says.
"Does anyone else have internet?" Phoebe asks, tapping her phone.
I had forgotten I had mine. I reached into my bag and pulled it out.
Shit!
I panic.
It's almost dead!
I open it and put it on low power mode quickly. I check my wifi. No bars. But I still had data so I could text.
"Wait," I say. "I have data so does that mean I can text my family telling them we're in danger?"
Juno shakes her head.
"I doubt that you could, there will be security measures for sure. If they catch you then you might die," Juno says.
"Oh." I am somewhat disappointed. I thought I'd found a loophole.
"Well it's 5 o'clock," Sunny says. "Surely dinner will arrive soon right?"
"Perhaps." Emily finally speaks, her voice soft. "Excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be back."
She darts away, her dark blue hair still covering her eyes. I wanted to follow her but I didn't.
She would be back soon, that's what she'd said.
....
After we'd eaten dinner (which was disgusting by the way) we decided who was sleeping where. I took a mattress that was in the middle of Juno and Maeve. As I settled down, Sunny spoke.
"Hey, Emily isn't back yet."
Silence.
And I had a gut feeling that she was in trouble.
"I'll go and check on her," Juno says. "She might've taken a shower in the bathrooms instead of the one in here."
Oh right. Emily hadn't gone to the bathroom in here. I'm not sure why, maybe she just wanted to get away from people for a little bit.
"I'll come with you Juno." I stand up.
Juno nods and we walk down the hallway to the girls bathroom.
That's when I see blood.
Everywhere.
Juno freezes and I keep walking until I reached the last cubicle which contained the only shower inside.
And I scream.
