When we reached the hospital, Garrett's mom signed some papers and we went to Garrett's room. He was asleep, and had a bunch of wires and tubes down his throat and in his arms, and had a scared look on his face. His dad walked into the room and made a subtly grossed out face. "Hoped I'd never see you again," he mumbled under his breath. A frown swept over Mrs.Segrid's face and she hit her husband's arm. "Shut up."

I looked at Garrett, confused. "Garrett hasn't been sick since I met him. What happened?" "Well, something strange. He isn't sick, he's comatose. It seems to me that his supernatural side is…changing," he fidgeted, "I'm a bit nervous. This has never happened to anyone I've worked with before. And I'm a vampire, you know, living forever? I've been a doctor for two hundred years." Old.

The doctor left, and me and Vera (Garrett's mom) spoke for hours. "So, your husband's a vampire. What are you?" She smiled. "A nymph. Fire nymph. How about you?" I shook my head, "dunno. I haven't transformed. I've been having dreams lately, though." She smiled, "it will happen soon then. Do you mind if I tap into your head? I promise, I won't look at your past, nor your future." I hesitated. "Go ahead." I sat on the floor, against a wall. Vera crouched in front of me and smiled. She gently pressed her thumbs against my temples, and I felt light.

A safe, comfortable sleep pulled me under. "I'm always watching you." The voice wasn't Vera's. It was male and deep, sounding clever and brave. I opened my eyes. A field of snow surrounded me, but I was in a circle that had been melted. Vera hovered in front of me, out of her human form. Her bones appeared to be made out of greti, a type of wood that would not burn, but could catch fire.She had no skin or muscle. Blue flame engulfed her, but I could still see her facial qualities.

"Hello," a calm smile was projected on her face, "ready?" I nodded. Ashton stood, along with Rick, and began choking him. I know this part. The one where Garrett kills me. Garrett was pinning me to the ground, stomach down. I felt it, though I was watching, not involved. Garrett sliced down my spine, rather than cutting away my 'valuables'. "This is different. It's not the same as what I'd dreamed about before."

Ashton collapsed and Rick began throwing loose punches at the top of his head. His knuckles began to bleed violently. I'd already died of blood loss when I looked back, and Garrett hadn't killed himself. Rick stumbled to Garrett and began to sob, staring at my mutilated corpse. "I'm sorry. It wasn't her inside. I couldn't do anything to stop this." Rick attacked Garrett, and lost. The survivor stood, and spoke to the sky. "We aren't angels. Why the hell are you keeping us alive? Why did I need to kill Alice?"

I looked to Vera. Her expression had not changed from the soft, sweet, smile. What the hell? The dream ended and Vera was gone. I was still in the hospital, but now my head was resting on Garrett's bedside. I looked at the clock on the back wall. 3:42.am. Garrett was still asleep, and my clothes had changed. I was now wearing a white dress.

"What the hell happened?" The hospital's lights were all off and there was no noise at all. I stood from where I was, and walked towards the door. The handle was frozen shut. I pressed down on the handle as hard as possible, but to no avail. I slid down on the door a and sat for a moment.

My body stood, but my mind was still sitting. My hand made contact with the door again, but this time, the handle liquefied. Once the door opened, I was in a different place. A goled field that seemed the spread on forever lay across the land. I stepped out and saw that a large willow lay in the middle. After seeing it, I was at the base of the tree. I attempted to feel it.

I felt drawn to it, and my knees seemed to disappear. I collapsed but still struggled to feel the bark. My arms would no longer move. I lay on the ground, motionless. The tree's branch leaned and curled around my waist and pulled me from the ground. I was balanced in the slant of three branches very gently. Now, I was in a warehouse. I last on the floor with my head resting on my knees. The sweet smell of blood was engulfing the whole warehouse. I gagged, then vomited, than again. The smell was so terrifying, so familiar, so...sad. I turned, the horrible feeling of death silently crept behind me.

Rick's corpse lay behind me.

"Baby? Rick...? Rick!" I sobbed and choked on tears. We made a promise. We'd be together until the end of eternity.

{Warning, this is the story of how Alice and Rick met.}

I held my phone tightly, my hood covered my face so that the light wouldn't sear my eyes. I was suffering from a terrible hangover on a disturbingly bright Saturday afternoon. My black hair was short then. I had a homemade pixie cut. (More like I just accidentally burned my hair off with a molotov that I was throwing at my exe's corvette...)

I walked through the subway in New York after being on vacation with my dad. I was going back to my hotel, the Resulting Demon's Tongue. My dad was a demon. I continued walking until I saw my stop and a bench near it. I sat on the bench and turned on my phone, putting on my head phones. Coldplay began playing, and I switched it to pierce the veil.

The train finally arrived, and I boarded silently. I sat on one of the seats and turned up the volume on my music. I'll bet you money... Someone stood. You're running to the bathroom... He held his head. You barely started drinking... He fell to the floor and all of the windows shattered. Beauty never stopped you. He opened his mouth to a set of bright white fangs. The only person who didn't move other than me was a dark haired male who seemed to be my age. He was smiling.

The guy who was standing looked directly at me and cocked his head. He then walked straight at me. Began charging, then pinned me to the floor. He began to scream and hold his head again. I put my hand on his cheek and began to read his mind. I shed a few tears as an unbelievable pain lashed out in my head.

I felt a hunger that made me want to kill something. I then understood that he was a new vampire, in transformation, too. He needed human blood, which I could provide, through the fact that I hadn't transformed. He screamed louder. I felt a more intense pain, and decided to give him my blood.

I didn't want any visible scars, and didn't want to have my dad finding out what happened. I bit down on the inside of my bottom lip as hard as I could. I pulled his head close to mine and we locked lips. He took the blood and suckled my lip for a few minutes before it stopped bleeding.

He stood, "Thanks for that. This is a little awkward..." I nodded. "Want to go get your lip fixed and maybe get something to eat?"

{End of memory}

I was moved to a different place again. My home, seven years ago. I was ten at the time. I looked down. My hands were much smaller, along with my chest. A lingering guilt wavered on my shoulders. I knew this situation. The week that I first tried alcohol. I'd just played a part in a murder.
