"We're all freaks here."

I looked around, seeing people all around me. They were tall, short, skinny, and plump. They were all different. I stared at them all, examining them head to toe. I then looked at my body. My long hair, my frail structure, my bony limbs and my bony fingers.

"People suck." I mumbled, causing several people to stare at me. Some girl with brown hair remained staring at me for multiple minutes, before whispering, "Freak". I looked away, shaking my hair onto my face.

The particular highschool that I was attending was full of "freaks". We were all supernatural beings in some form or another. I wasn't ready for transformation yet, so I was pretty much the only one in my class who didn't know what they were. The classroom was dark, there was no sunshine at all. Rain streamed down the windows in thick lines.

I looked at the teacher. She was a hellhound, her physical appearance was startling, yet dazzling. She had long, bright red hair that went past her waist, and a full chest. She glared straight into my eyes. "Alice Herald. I see you staring." I put my head in my desk and mumbled,"sorry".

She looked at the boy sitting to my left. "How's the view?" He was staring at her chest as she crossed her arms. He turned his attention to the windows and zoned out. She scowled and went back to teaching.

I looked at the boy to my right. He had dark hair and bright blue eyes. His head was planted in his desk, just as mine was. He lifted his head a bit and looked at me, mouthing the word,"bored". I nodded a little. He never spoke to the teacher, but was very friendly with me. He stuck his tongue out a bit, and pointed at the teacher. I giggled a little, and he smiled.

When class was over, he walked to my desk and waited for me to get my books as he did every day. He was my hallway guardian, boldly protecting me from assholes. We didn't know anything about each other really, except for our names and genders. His name was Garrett, my name was Alice.

I stood and he smirked a little. I connected our shoulders and rubbed up against him. I hooked my arm with his, closing my eyes and pulling my hood over my face. "Do I need to walk in the same hall as hundreds of other people?" "Unfortunately, yes." His soft voice brushed against my ears, comforting me.

I held tighter onto him as he escorted me out of the classroom. I could feel people staring at us as we strode through the crowded halls. I didn't move my hood until we reached our lockers, and Garrett let go of me. I reached out a bit, but found myself grabbing the air. I didn't want him to let go. The embarrassment of walking by myself was frightening.

"Its fine. You can latch back on if you don't need to rummage in your locker." I dropped my books onto the floor and grabbed his arm again. "I...I don't w-want to stay in th-the halls." He looked at me, smiling a tiny smile. "So, its getting worse?" I nodded and held his arm tighter. I was horribly shy that day. He pulled me off of his arm and looked at my eyes. "It's fine. I am your hall guardian, right?" I nodded and hugged him. No romantic intentions, no meeting outside of school. Those were our rules.

I smiled. I also started shaking and he hugged me back. "Oh, please. Dont be so damn dramatic." I buried my face in his shirt and allowed a tear to roll off of my face. He wiped the tear off of my cheek and we continued walking. We had every class together so I would never have to be alone. By the time that the end of the day came around, we stopped by our lockers again.

We grabbed our jackets and walked together to the doors. "See ya tomorrow." "...b-bye." I walked to my motorcycle, and sat on it. I watched Garrett walk to his car, and put my helmet on as soon as he got in.

I put the key in the ignition, and hesitated. "Do I really want to go home?" My father was an abusive alcoholic, and my mother died while giving birth. I turned the key slowly,"No. I don't. I won't go home, I'll just stay out tonight."

I turned out of the school parking lot and headed to a nearby bar and grill. "Hey, welcome to the Dalton bar and grill. Table for one?" I nodded and the busty woman lead me to a table. "Any drinks?" I nodded, gave her a fake ID and said,"Vodka." She looked at me strangely and said,"That's the first straight vodka order I've gotten today." I smiled and she left into the back room.

When I finished the vodka, I paid and left.

A/N:Please don't say anything shitty that could make me die of drowning in my own tears. :) FYI if you haven't noticed, Garrett is a main character. I might do something in his POV...

I stopped by the local liquor store and bought a couple bottles of whiskey. I walked out of the store and saw someone smoking in a grey hoodie. It was Garrett. I walked to him and said hi.

"You're breaking a rule." He didn't have his normal crooked smile on his face anymore, and he wouldn't look me in the eyes. "Sorry, but I got surprised. This doesn't seem like your atmosphere." He finally looked at me, and he was teary-eyed.

He was leaning on a cement building that looked like a prison. Garrett slid down to the ground and handed me his cigarette. I took a puff and put it out. "What's wrong?" He looked at the stars and tears roll down his cheeks. I sat with him and grabbed his hand.

"My mom got killed. She was coming home from a business trip and some guy stabbed her in her hotel." I looked at him for a minute, then put my head on his shoulder.

He tilted his head on top of mine, and he cried softly, whimpering. "I should go home." He started to stand, and I squeezed his hand. I didn't want to leave him alone. "Don't... Please." He looked at me, surprised, and picked me up. "What the hell?" He smiled a little, tears drying. He handed me my whiskey.

He carried me to his car and put me in the driver's seat. "Show me a place that you love." He sat in the passenger's seat, and tossed me the keys. I had to think for a few minutes. I pulled my hood up and smiled at Garrett.

I put the key in the ignition and turned it. I floored it and ran every red light there was to run. The streets were quiet and empty. Garrett closed his eyes and relaxed.

We drove for about two hours until we reached our destination. A large, vacant beach whose sands were pure white, and water was completely transparent. Garrett was asleep and I decided to leave him that way. I took off my shoes and left them in the car, as I walked towards the water.

A/N: thanks for reading my first chapter! Dont hate, it took me a while to actually want to publish anything so please don't judge. I read comments so please don't be assholes. I'm sorry that it is really fast moving, but if you don't like fast moving stories....you probably shouldn't read this... Thanks!
