The difference between your words and the ocean,

Is that the ocean's waves crash against my skin

At a rate of which they leave bruises,

But that's the way they are and will always be.

Your words, however, leave scars on my wrists,

And up and down my arms.

You do it to get a rise out of me,

To make me feel like I am nothing and never

Was anything.

The only similarity is that is the way you both are

And will always be.
