I recommend listening to the following:
"Liquid Smooth" by Mitski
"Mom." You whispered out to her as her eyes widened. They must've never told her you were coming. Probably just threw on some more restraints on her and tossed her into this interrogation room. Her midnight black hair that matches your own sticking to her face as you examined her tired, run-down body.
It was almost like looking right in the mirror at what could've been you.
"Oh, don't give me that look," she whispered roughly to you as your eyebrows furrowed at how harsh her voice was. How red her eyes were. The lack of color in her dark grey eyes that matched your own and the paleness of her skin. It was truly like looking into a mirror. "Don't look at me like you care. Like you miss me. I know you just hate me. Always had."
"I wish I did," you shook your head as you took your seat, "I really wish I could hate you but looking at you I just get reminded of the rare good times we had together ever since I was little," your voice shook a bit as you forced yourself to hold it together and remember the list of questions the men gave you.
"Mom," you called out to her as her own eyes full of agony stared into yours, "why did you do this?" She tried to glare at you but the emotions behind her eyes told you her truth. "You had such a good job helping out Pro Heroes. Why did you throw it all away?"
"Because of how twisted this world is! That's why!" She yelled at you as you closed your eyes in pain from looking into her own. "Quirks," she laughed dryly, "If you have a good one you're praised! Got a bad one? Well, good luck to you! Got a weak one? You're just fucking pathetic! It's sickening!"
You laughed a bit at the irony, "I would know that huh?" You looked back at her as she furrowed her eyebrows at you. "You and dad hated my quirk so much it led to all of this because of me. Right?"
"I didn't do all of this just because of you! Don't be selfish!"
"Then tell me why." You asked calmly as the men beside her gave her a warning for fidgeting around, "Who are you working for?"
"Why should I tell you?"
Your eyes soften as you saw her. The brokenness in her. Her dull eyes. Her messy hair. Her tired figure. How anger is only a facade to cover up just how sad and scared she is. The stress all of this has taken on her body and mind. You pitied her and it made you feel sick because you finally understood why everyone back at the dorms and everyone you love pitied you and treated you like you were made of glass.
Because at this point in time your stone turned into glass.
"Because deep down inside I think you are still a good person. That you're still the woman I am able to call my mother," your voice cracked as you saw tears building in her eyes that she tried to cover up with a look of disgust. "That you are still the woman who used to play spies with me in the backyard. Still, the woman who would comb my hair in the morning while singing our favorite songs together. Still, the woman who had my back when my own father began to turn against me."
You leaned forward to really look at her as her eyes shifted away from your own in guilt, "That there is still light in you," you whispered. "That you would never betray not only your own daughter but the hero world too. There has to be a reason why you did all of this. So please, tell me," you begged.
"The reason I did this is far more important than all of that bullshit," she said harshly, her eyes still avoiding your own as her body began to tremble slightly.
You shook your head as tears began to build in your own eyes, "You don't mean that-"
"I do!" She snapped her head back at you. "Light inside me," she laughed bitterly as she leaned in closer to truly see you too. "You sucked all of that right out of me as soon as you're destructiveness was born. That's all you're ever good at Y/n." Tears slowly fell from your eyes as she glared into your own to make sure every single word she gave you would send daggers flying straight to your back. "Destroying all light around you with your own darkness."
