"Shit, I honestly can't tell if I had Maddie or Marla with me last night. Those two twins literally dress the same way man. I'm all thrown off."

"Umm.. Shouldn't you know who you were with last night, Gabe? Aren't you like dating Maddie?" That sentence was one of the most random ones that had come out of Gabe but oddly enough I wasn't really surprised.

"You know I don't do that whole "relationship" thing." Gabe was scrolling through his phone but he had looked up at me now.

I only sighed in response. This was just his way of making conversation during lunch as we waited for the other team members to come and join us.

As if right on queue I hear. "Ayo! They have meat lovers pizza today." I turned my head and saw the 3 missing hockey players making their way toward us. Two of them looked annoyed while the 3rd one looked ecstatic.

"They never have meat lovers anymore. This must be the good luck charm for today's practice." He sat down almost as hard as he put his tray down. The other two sat along with him.

"You think YOUR love for meat lovers pizza is the good luck charm for the whole team, Reece?" Gabe scoffed.

"In Fact I do. Even Dalton agrees with me." Reece moved his chin toward one of the other boys that sat down with him.

Dalton shook his head. "I just said it so it makes you happy and silent. I don't really care." He shrugs and digs into his ham sandwich.

"Such a people pleaser." I heard it being said from under the breath of the last guy at our table.

It seemed like Reece heard him to because he shouts back a quick remark. "Maybe you should try it out sometime. People may actually work with you if you had some sort of heart for others."

"Please, I don't need that." Nolan just rolls his eyes and pulls his phone out, completely ignoring his tray of school lunch.

Lunch went on as normal with not much more bickering (unless you count Reece's and Nolan's conversation which are always snappy) for the time being. I just had math before my practice started. It was the last school practice until our very first game of my senior year. I was so excited for this practice that I ended up just watching the clock the whole time instead of doing work.

"Hey Jae?" There was a hand waving in front of my face. I come back to earth and I see the person behind that hand, Kayce. She was one of the girls in my ASL class and also the captain of the girls hockey team. We've known each other since the start of high school so I could already tell it was her waving that hand before even seeing her face.

"Oh yeah sorry?" I cleared my throat and looked around the classroom quickly then back at Kayce.
"I just wanted to ask who you guys are going up against for your first game but you seem a little distracted there." There was a teasing tone to her and it made me roll my eyes.

"No, I'm fine. Just excited is all." I run my hand roughly through my hair. "Umm.. we are going up against RidgePort Boarding school."

Kayce nods and smiles. "Ooh thats some good competition for you guys. You have some good guys this year?"

"Yeah, we are doing pretty good. I just think we need another goalie since our main guy seems like he doesn't enjoy the game as much as he did, but it's not up to me really." I shrugged and looked at Kayce, ready for her to ask me something else. If she was going to, she wasn't able to cause the bell rang.

I get up and grab my backpack without hesitation since all of my stuff was already packed away.

"Don't look forward to your practice too much, jeez.." Kayce mumbles as she puts her folder away.
