I look through the window and see that the whole sky has turned black. I close the laptop, pausing the movie that was playing. I was watching it with my girlfriend Tracey, but she is fast asleep. Her head is laying on my chest and her arms are wrapped around my waist. I quietly put the laptop on the ground.
I try to find a comfortable position before i try to go to sleep myself. She makes a few moaning noises but seems to be fast asleep still. I close my eyes, feeling satisfied. Tracy has been having nightmares, ever since she told me i have spent every night here. Today is the first day since last week, she's fallen asleep before midnight. I give her head a kiss and feel myself drift away.
After not even 30 seconds, I hear a loud noise by the window. Tracey immediately jumps up, sitting up wide away. I put my hand on her shoulder and whisper, "its okay Trace". I feel her shaking and she stares at the window. I crawl out of bed and slowly walk towards the window. I peep behind the curtains and see a twig leaning against the window. "Its just a twig". I crawl back into bed with her. "are you sure?" she asks, looking at me with big scared eye. "very". I lay down and hold my arms open. She looks at the window one more time before she lays down on my chest again. I hold her tightly and kiss her head again. "I love you, i wont let anything happen to you" i whisper. I don't get an answer, just some soft snoring noises.
