𝐈𝐓'𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 almost three weeks since steve and bucky started acting weird, and in that time eve had noticed bucky had come to pick her up from work more than usual. much more. the second her shift was done, he'd stand at the end of the hallway, sending her a smile that said 'hurry up, i've got something planned'.
and he did. for the past three weeks, he'd been taking her on these weird strolls around the city. and not for a second he let the conversation drop. she had stated multiple times she found his behavior weird, bucky just responding with 'just something extra for my best girl'. that got her to shut up and go with it.
she felt a bit crowded. bucky barnes was everywhere and she was trying to do something behind his back. but, she knew it'd be impossible to get it done without him knowing if he stood by her side the minute she got off of work.
so, desperately, she turned towards the only person that could help her. her brother. and that would surely damage her independent woman image but she saw no other option anymore.

"𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐁𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐘." eve said, announcing her presence to her brother who sat at their breakfast table. steve frowned as he put down his paper, eyeing his little sister who was nervously wringing her hands together. "but i have to tell you something."
she had every right to be nervous, she was about to tell her brother a life changing thing. something normal people don't do. something normal siblings wouldn't support each other in. something-
"you're going to enlist as a nurse." steve interrupted her train of thoughts. if there was one thing about steve, it was that he knew his sister like the back of his hand. so, the second bucky told him about eve staring at the enlisting poster he knew what she was thinking. it was the same thing he did.
they were the same in that way. they wanted to help people. steve supposed it was their mother's influence. they shared her stubbornness too.
eve, who had been ready to do the big reveal, gaped at him. "yes, well- wait- how." different sentences came to mind, all of them wanting to be asked first causing her to stutter. she narrowed her eyes, slightly disappointed she could announce the life changing event.
