Yasmina P.O.V:
The camp looks pretty cool, I'll admit but this constant pestering by everyone especially the YouTuber and the Texan, like come on, if I avoid you deliberately, I don't want to be near you. It's not that hard to figure out. This group of people couldn't be more mixed than a diverse public school back home, honestly, we are all so different it's a wonder that anyone talks to one another. Darius, is the excited nerd that lives and breathes dinosaurs. Ben, a scared and paranoid germaphobe. Sammy, is a very people person that doesn't know the meaning of quiet. Brooklynn, a 'famous' YouTuber, with a deep attachment to that phone.
If I didn't know any better, I would believe she goes to bed with it. Kenji, was your typical rich, privileged, and smug kid who thought the world revolved around himself. Myself, the introvert who despises human interaction while being an elite-level national athlete. And finally......Ryan.
I turned my eyes toward the only room that was separate from the common room and cabins. Dave had told us that the room was originally meant to be a gaming room but with Ryan's addition, it was made to be his own private room. When told that, all of us, some more than others, were of course upset that we didn't have our own rooms but Dave explained that the room was for Ryan's gear and also as a study so that if he wanted to, he could still work on his training modules.
Although I was jealous, I could also see the undertones of why he was separate from the rest of us. Ryan is.......aloof, I think is the best word to describe him. While everyone was easy to get a read on (because they wear their feelings on their sleeves). Ryan on the other hand was closed off, all I could get from him was his dislike towards Kenji, his dark attitude toward others especially Ben and Brooklynn, and his nonchalant mood when he caught the Compy. Not to mention that he's a massive human being and has a scowl on his face that hardly ever leaves. Kenji can talk the big talk all he wants, I ain't gonna push my luck and get on Ryan's bad side anytime soon.
I see him coming out of his room wearing gym gear and heading towards the bridge that leads towards the bridge that takes us to a nearby tree. When Roxie told us about the gym, I think it was the first since arriving on this island that I smiled besides the time Ryan introduced himself in the truck and watching him go now....oh boy. I've never really gone out of my way to feel attracted to someone, sure I notice if someone is attractive, what teenager doesn't but I can't help but wander my eyes over Ryan's physique, doesn't help when his form-fitting shirt doesn't do anything to hide his muscles, I shake my head from these thoughts and walk over towards him.
P.O.V Change: Ryan
Gym time for me. Hamada told me before I left, 'Ryan, while you going for fun and whatnot, I want you to keep to your routine and workouts, got it?', Hamada is a good bloke but he is demanding with his time and dedication to said routine. And I don't want to go back to ACU out of practice, slow and weak, Hamada would chew my ass out if I did that. "Heading to the gym?" I hear to my right as I turn and see Yasmina walking over to me. Well this is a surprise, out of everyone, Yasmina reminded me of....well, me. A quiet, to myself drifter. "Ahh, yeah. My commander would chew and spit me out if he heard that I was slacking off". I answer, surprising myself with the ease that I'm having with this conversation. She chuckles, and in that moment, I liked her laugh. She laughed at a joke that I made, which is weird cause I don't make jokes...like at all
"Do you mind if I join you, I haven't had the chance to work out since I left the mainland." She asks. Is she asking for my permission....why....why does she need my permission. "Yeah that's fine....you know you don't need my permission, the gym is open to everyone." I say to her as she gestures to me. "I didn't want to intrude if you wanted time to yourself....we all saw your outburst to Roxie and I heard what you said to Ben in the truck, I thought it would be better to ask than to barge in our time. Better safe than sorry, you know." She answers while walking off towards her shared room, I assume, to grab her gym stuff. I should have known that I would put people off but still...you don't have to ask permission from me to do something... although I do see her point. If I was in her shoes, I would probably ask me too.
