Stay on Mission

"Any sign of them?" Yaz shouts out as we run through the dense jungle. "Not yet!" Darius yells back. "Just keeping running!" I yell out as I vault over a log. The laptop is firmly placed in my arm.

P.O.V Change: Brooklynn

Hawkes pulls me through the tunnels and basically throws me outside. I look to see Wu wide eyed. "You and the other campers.....you never made it off the island." He says in a shocked but slightly impressed tone. "Oh it's no biggie. We just enjoy our share of death and destruction." I say sarcastically as Hawkes drags me by my arm. "Hate to spoiler the little reunion but her friends took the laptop. Watch her, make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." He says as he throws me to one of his buddies. Hawkes walks off into the jungle with the other mercenary. "Look. Yaz is the fastest girl on the planet. Darius knows dinosaurs better than you guys do and Ryan......oof, that guy knows how to cover his tracks. You'll never catch them." I say smugly to the merc. "Not with Hawkes on their tail, they won't get far." The mercenary states, like it's a matter of fact rather than opinion. I smile on the inside. Some have underestimated them before and they are on the inside of a dinos belly while we are still kicking. I feel the quill on the inside of my pocket. I hope I don't have to use it but.......whatever it takes.

P.O.V Change: Ryan

We keep running to get away, but we stop for a breather. I notice the tracks that we are leaving behind. "Get up in the tree." I say to them. "What?" Yaz questions as I point out the tracks. "He can follow us. Get up in the tree, I'll lead them away." I say as I run off. I hear Yaz give a frustrated grunt. I find myself a good tree and begin climbing. I get to a good height and look through the leaves and see the mercs. "I know you can hear me!" Hawkes says angrily. "Sit down the laptop and nobody gets hurt. I won't come any closer." He says as he gestures the other mercs to go. "You have my word." He says sinisterly. I look in the direction of where he is looking, I notice two odd shapes through the bushes. I move to get a good look and see the merc jump through the bushes and sees........Chaos and Grim. The Baryonyxs wake up from their slumber and roar aggressively at the merc for tries to fire but Grim gets a hold of his arm and tears it off. Chaos bites down on his head and shoulders, before thrashing about. The sound of bone crunching and muscle tearing echoes. I notice Hawkes looking through some binoculars at the carnage. "We're heading to the valley to load up the chopper. That gives you about two hours to bring me the laptop. And if you don't. Your friend ain't going be alive come morning." Oh hell no, you didn't just threatened my friend.

I see Hawkes leave as I hop down quietly to the ground. I run over to where the others were. "What are we going to do know?" Darius asks. "We get her back. By any means necessary. They threatened my friend, I'm not going to let them get away with it." I say with anger. Hawkes is a coward to use Brooklynn's life as leverage against us. Fucking coward. "Let's head to the boat and drop the laptop off and then figure out a plan to get Brooklynn back." I say as Yaz and Darius nod. We begin running in the direction of the dock.

We break through the tree line and see the boat. We take a minute to catch our breath. "Cause they're here!" I hear Sammy shout out and we turn and see Kenji, Sammy and Ben. We all run over in a big group hug. "We thought you left on the chopper." Darius states to the others. I notice Kenji looking around. "Hold up, where's Brooklynn?" He ask while Yaz and Darius have sad expressions. Kenji's eyes widen in fear.

"You left her with them!" Kenji shouts out. "It's what Brooklynn wanted!" Darius tries to reason back. "I don't care, you still left her with them!" Kenji says as he gets in Darius face. I shove him back. "Listen here, Brooklynn wanted us to take the laptop and run. Don't blame Darius or anyone." I tell him. "We just need a plan to get her back." Darius tries to reason again but it doesn't seem to get through to Kenji. "Then give them the stupid laptop! Plan done!" He yells. He goes to grab the laptop out of my hand. "It's not that simple. Everything that has happened. The Indominus, the Scorpios, all of it was due to Wu's research. I'm not letting that man create more hybrids." I say to Kenji. "What about Brooklynn, what about her!?" He questions but I don't have an answer. We can't go to Costa Rica, with both Brooklynn and the laptop. We are out of options. "We don't have a choice. We have to give Wu the laptop." Ben says as we agree. No other option.
