~Y/N's P.O.V~

Time was against us before our plan failed. Ben grabbed my hand, and we went to the car. "Come on, come on, come on!" Lonnie looked at us and said, "Weapons!"

Ben and I put them away and got in the limo. Lonnie secures the trunk before going up to the front with Jay.

I look behind me and try to catch my breath. I can't believe I'm leaving the Isle.

"I'm really sorry that things didn't go the way you wanted them to." I look over at Ben and sigh. "I think your safety matters more."

He says, "I mean, at least I got to see the Isle. They're my people, too. Uma helped me see that." Those words take me by surprise.

"Ben, Uma took you hostage. Ace had helped her. He already ruined other things for me!" I remind him. "She's an angry girl with a bad plan. That's not so different from you when you came to Auradon, Y/N. Wait, you and Ace dated?"

I roll my eyes and cross my arms, looking at the other side of the window. "Awkward." I hear from Dude, and I scoff.

"Dude, I know you can talk, but it doesn't always mean you should."

After an envious and long car ride, we return to Auradon Prep. Yay.

Lonnie and Emilia are carrying the bows and swords. "Lonnie and I will get these back to the gym," Emilia says. Jay thanks her, and the two girls head off.

"Ben! There you are." I see Jane approach us, and I try not to engage. "The Cotillion is tonight. Come here. Look."

I sigh, and the two converse about whatever. Ben then gently grabs my hand and asks, "Do you want to cancel?"

"Um, you know what? I can come back. Uh, like, like really soon." Jane says. "No, no, no. Now's fine. Um... Do whatever you need to do."

I give him a look of bitterness but also try not to show my despair. Evie and Mal grab my arm and say, "We need to talk." "Yeah." I agree.

Carlos and Jay come up behind us and say, "No." "'No?'" Evie asks. "You guys are always going off in a huddle, whispering hour girl-talk stuff or whatever, and Jay and I are tired of it."

Jay says, "I'm not." "We're your family, too. We've been through a lot. Together. I'm not stopping that now. Okay?" I half smile and nod.

"Everyone, sit."

Carlos is the first to encourage everyone else: "Come on. You too." The rest of us do so, and then he starts with, "I don't know how to start girl talk." I look at Jay, and he says, "What up?"

I find my voice. "I-um, I am such a mess. I mean, I felt like everything had happened all so fast that within the last six months, I couldn't keep up. Now, everybody wants me to be Lady of the Court, and I cannot keep up with that act. Heck, I don't even know how I did it the last three months of getting through it."

"Then don't," Carlos says. I wipe away some of my tears, and his words clear my mind. "See? This was dumb," says Jay.

"Maybe it wasn't. We're always going to be the kids from the Isle. I tried to forget it, I really tried, but those are our roots. And we all did what we had to do to survive, but it made us who we are. And we're never gonna be like anybody else here. And that's okay. That's okay."

Mal adds, "I think we can celebrate our differences. I mean, to only be one of a kind is something never to be ashamed of."

Carlos adds, "And we can't fake it." "No." "Yeah, and I mean, I can't do anything else without my dad's book or spells at all."
