The group ended up taking shelter in random buildings for the night and the day after the C.D.C. blew up. Rick went over to Winona, to wake her up to radio Morgan. She awakes and they head up towards the roof.
Rick sighs and turns the radio on, "I guess I'm losing hope that you can hear us. But there's always a chance, isn't there? That slim chance. It's all about slim chances now. I tried to do everything right, keep people safe. I tried, Morgan. I tried." Winona rubs his back in comfort, still half asleep, Rick smiled in appreciation, "Our group's smaller now. We lost another, day before last. It was her choice. I won't say I blame her, but she lost faith. The C.D.C. was a dead end. I met a man there, a scientist. He told me something. He told me..." Rick pauses looking back at Winona, and continues, "It doesn't matter. What matters is we're moving on. Atlanta's done. We're gonna try for Fort Benning. We're facing a long hard journey, maybe even harder than I can imagine. But it can't be harder than our journey's been so far. Can it? 125 miles— that's what lies ahead. And I'm trying hard not to lose faith. I can't. If I do, the others... my family, my wife... my son. There's just a few of us now. So we've got to stick together, fight for each other. Be willing to lay down our lives for each other if it comes to that. It's the only chance we got. Be careful out there Morgan. I hope you and Duane are okay. Stay off the road. Keep moving. Keep your eyes open. I don't know, just— just be safe. Maybe we'll see you in Fort Benning someday. Rick and Winona signing off."

The group decides it will be best to use less cars, saving on gas. Daryl's truck being one of the cars left behind, Daryl opts for Merle's old bike, and Winona tosses her stuff into the RV. She notices the look of jealousy Shane gives toward Rick and Lori and she rolls her eyes. Shane grabs Winona, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to ride with Daryl, so if you don't mind, let go," she replies, shaking off his hand.
"Nuh-uh. No way. You're riding in the RV with me and the rest of us."
"How many times do I have to tell you? We're done, Shane. Nothing you can do will fix it."
Shane grabs her arm again, roughly, "You. Are. Riding. In. The. RV."
"Ow Shane, stop it," she yelps in pain.
Rick notices and jogs over, causing Daryl to also come over. Rick steps by Winona and Shane quickly lets go, "She was about to fall, so I grabbed her arm to keep her from falling, nothing more."
   Rick didn't believe him, "Winona?"
She hesitatingly nodded, "Yeah, you know me, super clumsy."
He couldn't place his finger on it, but she had been acting strange ever since the C.D.C. Rick knew he wasn't going to get anything out of her with Shane around so he just nodded and headed back towards his car.
Dale cut in, "Son, let's saddle up." Shane heads into the RV, eyes seemingly not leaving Winona.
"Come on, Wi," Daryl speaks, "You always used to pester me about going for a ride." She nodded and hopped onto the back of the bike. Daryl began to lead the caravan. They left the city behind them, and put 125 miles of uncertainty in front of them.
