Charlotte's POV

I woke with a gasp, which seemed to be becoming very common and very annoying since it had been happening every morning for the past month.

Eversince I had found out about the war, and Mark's involvement in it, Jameson was all too eager to work throughout the night, sleep for a few hours and then start again at first light.

He had told me that he didn't want me to worry, that he can handle this and that his pack knew what they're doing, the fact they were more than happy to fight for me was what really worried me.

Jameson had been saying all my stress was the cause of the... distance between us when it came to our bond.

I still hadn't been able to own up about my half-breed status, but Jameson insisted for me not to worry so he had left me his phone so I could call him or Jackson if it was important until our mindlink was back...

He was so sure of this, that he can handle everything and that I didnt have to worry but keeping a secret like mine was becoming a challenge eversince Jameson had brought it up in a conversation that he'd love to see my wolf oneday since I had seen his.

I nodded eagerly as we were eating dinner together and that was the last of that conversation, any other attempts by Jameson ended up with me snapping at him and him laughing because he loved me just the way I was.

I remained buried in the sheets of Jamesons bed, unable to handle the sunlight just yet so I slid my hand out from under the sheets and grabbed Jamesons phone, not even checking who the caller was since I knew Jamesons had blocked Mark's number.

"Hello?" I sighed, closing my eyes as the person began to speak.

"Hey babe" Jameson beamed as usual.

I opened my eyes eventhough I was consumed by the darkness from under the sheets "Don't call me babe ever again." I snapped, being reminded of how Markus used to call me that when we were together.

Because of this war and the fact that Markus was threatening to kill others and to take me from Jameson made me uneasy about anything that involved my... ex, if I had to call him anything now.

"Sorry" Jameson laughed, sounding a little breathless for some reason as I could then hear a female voice in the background.

"What are you doing?" I asked, trying to sound casual when really I was curious as to who he was with.

"I just shifted and I'm now on my way back to the Packhouse with someone who I want you to meet, its a surprise" He said, shouting something away from the phone in a playful tone before putting it back to his ear.

"Okay, I'll see you soon" I said shortly, not waiting for his reply before hanging up.

I sighed in annoyance, having no idea why he was out running in his wolf form so early or why he was running with another girl.

But I was more annoyed because I had plans today, I had told Jameson this and eventhough he had told me I couldn't leave his packhouse because we were currently at war, I was still going to do what I wanted to in the first place.

I swung my feet out of bed, rubbing my eyes before standing and walking across Jamesons room to his ensuite.

I began to run a bath, figuring that because Jameson had been out running all morning and it was now midday, he wouldn't mind joining me for a bath since he hadn't been home at all last night.

He told me that he was sorry for having to go over a few things with Jackson, saying that he felt bad, but it wasn't the first time he had been away from me and no offence to him, I wasn't really that fussed if he had things to do and it took him all night.
