Charlottes' POV.

I stood at the doors of the Maelstrom Packhouse nervously, knowing how much Markus' parents liked me eventhough they knew who my parents were and what they were like, I'm always surprised that and they didnt mind a half-blood like me screwing their golden child.

I'd payed the taxi driver his fare and given him a tip for driving in this impossible weather and within seconds, the yellow car had already disapeared back down the driveway.

As I approached the front doors where I now stood, I hadn't seen a single wolf on patrol... maybe they were hidden within the trees nearby or maybe because it was well past one in the morning now...

I fiddled with my hands for a while, nervous and also afraid that I'd break down when I spoke to Markus' parents. I mean, what do you say to a couple that lost their only son because of my mistakes?

It was all my fault... I knew and they would too. What was I doing here? Yes I missed Markus, his parents would be grieving over the death of their son and their whole pack would probably want to kill me because it was all my fault...

I'd made a mistake by coming here, I wasnt welcomed here and his parents wouldnt want to see me.

Just as I sighed loudly in frustration and turned to leave, the doors opened and the porch light turned on, making me jump as the victorian themed packhouse lit up.

I stood at the bottom step, the snow still falling violently as I saw the doors open in slow motion. This is it... they know your here... this is how it all ends...

But instead of an onslaught of wolves and violent parents, I was surprised when I saw Markus' younger sister Delilah peek out through the gap in the door.

"Charlie? Oh my god, Charlie!" She sobbed, throwing the doors open and running down the steps to me with tears in her eyes.

I was taken aback when she threw herself at me and hugged me tighter than I'd even been held before, her heavily pregnant stomach pressing akwardly between us as she sobbed into my shoulder.

I wasnt much of a hugger, even when Delilah and I had gone to highschool together for those breif two years but it felt good to know that Delilah didnt hate me.

I wrapped my arms around her too, that seemed to only make it worse for the both of us as I began to cry aswell.

"I- we, thought you were dead! There was blood... so much blood and you... were missing and Markus..." she sobbed as even more tears threatend to fall when she pulled away to look me in the eye.

Her dark brown waves were being blown all over the place as the wind picked up, the skirts of her long coat that blew in the breeze as she cupped my face and I realised that she looked so exhausted.

All this stress mustn't be doing anything good for the poor girl and her baby.

"Delilah, you need to get back inside before you freeze" I said sternly as I wiped my tears away roughly.

Her hands fell away from my face and her green eyes were filled with fear when she spoke then "You're not leaving are you? We need you here, I need you here... Markus needs you here" She whispered, the heavily falling snow and the freezing tempuratures were clearly the least of her worries.

"I cant be here Delilah, not after everything I've done to you, your parents and to Markus. I'm not welcome here" I explaned, prying her dainty hands away from my shoulders.

"No, you need to stay here, Markus wants you here, he needs you! You cant just leave-" I cut her off when I snapped.

"Markus is dead Delilah!" I roared, frightening the girl "He's gone and he's never coming back!" I added, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall again.
