Jamesons POV
Dr Namara was good at what she does, the highest recommended professional who specialized in Lycan medicines and medical treatment.
I never doubted her in helping Charlie, she knew what to do and how to do it, even when she said I couldn't be around when she was operating on my mate.
I understood that my stress and helplessness to help my own mate would drive me insane, it was already making my inner wolf known and force my instincts forwards.
I had nearly attacked Jackson and Dr Namara at Charlies apartment because of my instincts to protect her from further harm.
But things were going to get messy before they got better and I hoped that Charlie was stronger than this and that she would survive.
Dr Namara had assured me she would do all she could but there were no certainties that my mate would pull through.
Which is why I was helplessly pacing the hall outside of the infirmary, memories of when I took Charlie here for the first time to help her when she went on that rampage and cut her hand open at my house...
And here we were again, I was locked out and forced to keep myself distracted from the knowledge that my mate was unconcious, on the brink of death and being operated on.
It had been nearing on nine hours straight that Dr Namara had been operating on Charlie, her first priority was to mend her fractured skull and let her healing abilities remove the excess blood in her brain. It was a simple procedure that had happened many times before without any problems.
In the nine hours that I had been locked out, left to wander the halls with worry, I noticed no other pack member in the pack house.
Not even Jackson was to be seen but I assumed it was because he had told the pack of what had happened to their Luna and that she might not pull through.
I don't know what I would do without Charlie now that we were mated and finally seeing eye to eye on things.
We'd happily been together for just over a month now, everything was going great... I loved her more than my own life and I couldn't lose her now, not after everything we had been through.
Sighing loudly, I slumped down to the floor opposite the doors to the infirmary, my back against the wall as I sat there staring ahead.
I hadn't changed, still wearing the jeans Jackson had given me and no shirt, not having the time or strength to leave Charlie to do so.
Just as I had sat down, checking the wall clock by the infirmary doors to see it was nearing ten whole hours of surgery, I had jumped to my feet just as quickly when the infirmary doors opened.
Dr Namara stepped out wearing the green scubs that she wore for the surgery, removing the facial mask and cap before looking at me.
I noted the large amount of my mates blood smeared here and there across the front of the apron she wore, a few strands of Dr Namara's hair had come loose and the dark circles under her eyes showed she was exhausted.
She balled up the mask and cap, slipping them into her apron pocket before taking a few steps closer to me as I found myself frozen to the spot with fear.
What had become of my mate?
"Jameson..." she sighed exhaustedly, "it isn't over just yet, theres still some more minor adjustments I need to make but she has made it though the worst of it. Her body is exhausted and needs a break" Dr Namara finished.
My eyes were wide as I still hadn't gotten the certainty I was after.
"She'll be fine James" She smiled sadly, before she enveloped me in a reassuring hug, her motherly tendencies letting her know just how broken and stressed I was for Charlie.
