A Touch of Romance

Third Person’s POV

Prove it? How he would accomplish that Daniel wondered. He looked at her for answers which he did not expect her to give. “Would you accompany me for a walk in the garden?” asked the woman he felt in love with. Without waiting for his reply, she began walking towards the garden.

It was a view that no one would get enough of. He was entranced when he saw the garden filled with roses of different colors and kinds. Garlands of roses intertwined one another creating a rose pattern if it were seen from high above. In the centre, a marvelous fountain of three meters high stood proudly as if declaring that ‘he’ was the strongest one of all. The fountain was fully made by sparkling smooth white marble and its width was five meters.

As the wind blew, countless of rose petals danced with it but the scenery in front of him never changed, as if the roses were numberless and would never run out of petals. It was a breath taking sight, he admitted for he was completely taken by the sight before him.

The fragrance of the roses also filled him. It was faint – for roses do not have a strong fragrance – which relaxed him. Suddenly, Aurelia stopped her tracks and looked at him. He snapped out of his thoughts instantly.

“This rose garden was designed by my parents. It held my most precious memories and also my childhood days.” She said to him.

He could not fathom why she suddenly told him all of these but maybe, just maybe she was trying to open herself a little to him. For that, he was extremely grateful. He looked at her while she slowly pointed the magnificent hedge maze in front of them. He was confused about her action which her next words explained all of it, “Daniel, if you do love me, then find me.”

Within minutes, Aurelia vanished into the maze. She knew that he would never find her no matter how much time, will and effort he puts. Since this maze was specifically built for the times of danger, for the royal family to go out of the palace. She did not hope that she would find her. She only wished that he would not give up until she thought the time that went by was enough for her to show herself.

With that thought on her head, she whirled and twirled around the maze, finally reaching the place she wanted, the secret place only known to her and her father, the white regal pavilion where she used to go with her father when she was just a child. She dusted the bench and sat there waiting for the time to fly.

Daniel was surprised of Aurelia’s words. Did what she meant by prove it was to find her in this awfully huge maze, he asked himself. If so, he would make sure that he found her even if he had to take forever because she was worth his lifetime.

As the invincible clock kept on tickling, Aurelia started to lose the track of time. At the beginning, she felt herself jumpy. As much as she hated to admit it, her heart was secretly hoping that he would find her. It was difficult but it was not impossible. Eventually, she realized how foolish her thoughts were. She told him to search for her here because she knew he would never succeed so why pray for it?

Daniel was about to speak blasphemy. It had been a long time since he embarked on this love quest but he still had not gotten any clue of how to navigate to the center. It was as if the center of the maze was hidden somewhere. There were so many dead ends and winding paths. Accidentally, his hand touched one of the circular walls and found that it was hollow. Surely, it was actually the hidden door towards the center. There, he saw a white regal pavilion stood with hundreds of red roses swirling about it and there he saw her, Aurelia.
