A Girl in Love

Aurelia’s POV

“Hey hey little sister, I saw you there you know mesmerized by a charming gentleman. So tell me who was he? It seemed that our mother’s effort paid off. You seemed to be really interested at him,” said my annoying brother.

I punched him on his chest and he went on and on about how hurt it was. So the ball had ended and I went into my room only facing my annoying brother smirked at me.

“I told you, I don’t know who his name. I was only dancing with him because mother told me to do so or else she would have shoved me to another man. This was just to let her calm down a bit.”

“Tsk tsk… Don’t deceive me little sister. I saw you blushed back there okay and you were conversing happily with him.”

I could not stand it anymore so I pushed him out of my room and locked the door. After making sure that he left already, I let myself drown in thoughts. My mind was full of questions and my feet hurts because of the stupid new heels. Worst of all, I just realized that I hadn’t ask him his name. What if he was a one day dream? What if he wasn’t real?

“Keep quiet stupid mind!” I screamed at myself not bothering if the servants were out there.

I threw myself to my comfortable queen size bed. I looked into the unchanging white ceiling and drifted to sleep.

The Next Day

“Aurelia! Put more attention to where your opponent is! Do you want to insult me by displaying this kind of swordsmanship or what?” said Sir Bryan, my fencing/sword instructor.

I sighed and sincerely apologized to Sir Bryan. He might look old because of his gray hair and wrinkles on his face. However, you would be a fool if you underestimate him. He had trained all the knights and soldiers of this kingdom. My father also clearly made his point that Sir Bryan or should I address him as Supreme Commander of the Army, Bryan Grayford that he should not retire unless my father allows him. This showed just how important his presence was to my father.

Since the kingdom was still in peace right now, my father told Sir Bryan to train my brother and I. Formalities were not needed between us as he was my father’s most trusted subject and his dearest friend.

“Aurelia, you really need to keep yourself focused and stop daydreaming. I’ll let you rest for a while,” I nodded and thanked him, “Dominique, come! Show me how far your swordsmanship improved!”

I was walking towards the end of the training ground like zombie. The training ground was a rectangular grass field stretched about 4 meters with pine trees surrounding the corners. The wind felt very refreshing here and the birds flying around chirping made this a great place to think.

When I reached the walls, I slumped and sat down. My head was hurting as I could not sleep well yesterday. My worries and useless thoughts burdened me. I would like to sleep right here but Sir Bryan’s gaze never once left me even when he was sparring with my brother. I took a deep breath and decided to observe them.

Dominique’s POV

I tried my hardest not to laugh at my sister’s sword technique. She was thrusting blankly ahead not knowing that Sir Bryan’s wrinkles added as he was frowning a lot at her. Finally, I gave up and let a laughter escape. Sir Bryan cleared his throat and gave me a piercing gaze. I coughed and went all serious face once again.
