I flinched as I heard heavy footsteps getting nearer and nearer to my room. Thunder boomed and lightning flashed but on that night, I couldn’t see anything as the dark clouds veil the sky. As I heard a shriek from outside my room, I moved frantically towards the corner of my room, creating more and more distance between that door and me. It may be futile but knowing the surrounding walls supporting me was the only comfort I could get.

Suddenly, the door clicked and my heart stopped beating as I saw a silhouette approached me. When I thought that someone was going to rescue me, my hope dissipated as I saw blood on his face and he was carrying someone. I prayed desperately that ‘someone’ is not related in anyway to me but I was wrong. The thunder flashed and I could see that man dragging my dead father’s body. He then cruelly tossed my father aside and held me by my hands. I was consumed by fear as I couldn’t even fight him back while I was dragged away by him.

I closed my eyes, trying to recover myself from the shock and relate what just happened. Suddenly, that man stopped and bowed to another presence. I couldn’t catch what they were saying and I only got something out, “All Hail King Tyreus!” As I saw the man laughed and satisfaction filled his face, reality hit me. My father, the True King had been murdered and now the whole world will fall into the hand of this tyrant. I screamed and flailed so that I could free myself. It seemed that the man -that hold me captive- was very impatient as he drew his sword and aimed for my neck. My reflexes dulled as I failed to fight or close my eyes.

When I thought that everything is over, the so called new king raised his hand and halted him. He blinked a few times in shock but he bowed to his master’s wishes. Before I could run or do anything, a deep and cold voice froze me. I looked into the ‘king’ and a cruel smile was formed on his face as he spoke the next few words that sent shivers down my spine, “It should be fun to keep that weakling’s favorite daughter as my pet, don’t you think so Maxwell?” That man -Maxwell- sent me a cruel smile before agreeing to his king. The last thing I knew was his evil chuckle and a sharp pain on the back of my head.

Then, everything went black
