"Karter!"
I hear my name being called down the hall as I grab my text book out of my locker.
I turn my head and notice it's Alexa.

"Alexa!" I say in the same tone and volume she said my name in.

"Karter there is this hot new student everyone's talking about him" she says I know referring to Ethan.

"Oh really?" I say uninterested

"I don't know I haven't seen him yet but Cassie says he's really hot but you know Cassie is" she says giving me a look.

Cassie falls in love with any guy who gives her attention or just looks her way. Her dad was very abusive and left her when she was young, so now she searches for any sort of male validation, I hate to say it but it's true. There's been countless times me and Alexa have had to comfort her. I really hope she finds someone to treat her right and that she find peace within herself.

"He's probably not good looking"

That's a lie I know he's good looking.
I don't want Alexa or Cassie to know I've already met let alone going on some sort of date with him.

They've always tried to set me up with someone or just try to push me into the dating pool.

I've never been into dating it will just be another person to let down.

"How would you know you haven't even seen him and he's got to be sort of good looking for this much gossip" she questions me

"You know how it is with new students we live in a small town anyone new is exciting." I argue.

"True Cassie I guess had him in first period I wonder if she's talked to him yet"

"I wonder too where is she by the way?" I just notice she hasn't met us like us usual.

"I don't know she said she was gonna use the bath room but I don't know but we better get to history let's go." Alexa's says walking towards our next class.

We shuffle our way down the hall.
Then I see Cassie.
Talking to
Ethan.

I keep looking at them as I walk down the hall then all of sudden Ethan looks over,
We make eye contact.
Shit.
I look away quickly.
Fuck.
That's so awkward.

I keep walking

"Karter" Alexa says snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Did you see who Cassie was talking to I think that's the new kid he is kind of good looking." She's as we arrive to our classroom.

"Oh no I didn't see them." I walk over to my desk and she heads over to hers

I sit down and pull out my notebook knowing I'll just be doodling in it the whole class period.

Then all of sudden he walks in.
Ethan.

Shit don't make eye contact just keep looking down.

I know he's going up to our teacher to ask where he sits hopefully he doesn't sit by me.

I just I continue to doodle.
