Maybe... Nothing Was

Dream decided that the best way to teach the skeleton baby would be to talk to him. It's not like he could do much else. The closest to raising someone he got was interacting with Tommy, Tubbo, and the rest of the minors he interacted with on the SMP. That wasn't actually raising them, not to mention that they weren't literal babies! Dream took a deep breath.

Dream also realized he had an issue of his own with speaking. Not only was it harder to pronounce the letter g but he also sometimes forgot how to pronounce other letters and vowels! He felt out of control and he sounded like a baby! Which, to be fair, he was a baby now, but it was no less embarrassing. Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you saw it, the only ones to embarrass himself around were a tree and a baby.

...The tree, sure he knew it was his mother, it's voice sounded feminine, now but he wasn't quite ready to call it that. The tree would 'rest' at night. The way the tree explained it sounded more like being half-asleep to Dream. More like half resting. He supposed he shouldn't focus on that though.

Whenever Dream couldn't sleep, he wasn't lying when he told Techno he didn't sleep, which caused the baby to refuse to sleep much to the tree's apparent amusement, he would ask for a story. The tree told him stories of many different worlds outside of this one. There were many unique worlds and some pretty similar ones.

Inevitably, time moved on and days went by. His brother continued to babble but Dream thinks it's starting to sound more like actual words so he was happy. Dream also noticed that his brother fell asleep and took naps at random points in the day.

Dream also decided to start exploring more around his parent, with it's permission of course. Which brought him to his next issue. He now had trouble walking it was like he had no control. Believe him, he tried and slowly became better but it was more stumbling and crawling than walking. It didn't stop him from practicing though.

It was very tiring though. Once he even fainted. That was when he realized he was pushing his body too far. It annoyed him that he didn't realize that sooner.(he didn't like fainting it was so out of his control)It probably didn't help that Dream didn't really sleep. Or maybe he's just stubborn...

...Dream was not stubborn. He's just very strong-willed.

Either way, Dream needed to build up his strength as quickly as possible. He needed to be able to keep an eye out for mobs, especially at night. He may not have seen any yet but they were most likely just lucky. Or maybe his tree parent has some ability to deter mobs but he couldn't be too sure.

...It was definitely odd though... He hadn't seen many passive mobs either. He did see a sheep and a... Deer? He thinks.

The SMP didn't really have any deer. Dream hadn't seen a deer in a while. He actually had hardly left the SMP anymore by the time he arrived in this world. It wasn't safe to leave everyone to their own devices. There was too much chaos on the SMP.

People had their own different factions and people turned against one another left and right. It wasn't the DreamSMP anymore. It wasn't the server that was originally made for Dream and his friends. Dream invited too many people he didn't know as well as his main friends. It was a mess.

You could take one look at what happened to L'manburg and everyone else involved. You could take one look at the history of it all and you would realize it started going wrong when people didn't listen to Dream's rules. Dream's rules were quite simple, for example there was the no flying rule and the no potions rule. People didn't listen. Things started getting messy.

That isn't the point though. The point is that he hadn't seen any deer or mobs other than the mobs in his own server for a while.

Another reason he needed to build up this body's strength is because he needed to find food. He could feel his hunger bar going down as he explored. Thankfully his brother hadn't explored much so far, so he didn't think he needed to be too worried... Dream did wonder if it was different with toddlers though. Didn't toddlers not have as much energy as adults and teenagers?

Dream may need to start getting worried.

Dream continued to try exploring. He was getting really hungry and began to feel his eyes droop. He didn't want to faint again but as he felt his eyes droop he knew it was coming. Maybe he could fight it off, he thought to himself struggling to stay awake. He felt his breathing become heavy.

Even if everything else was going wrong out of his control he could always control his sleep and it wasn't in his control Dream tried to take a deep breath but it wasn't working Dream tried to take another breath but he just felt himself wheeze which felt like his own body was laughing at, mocking, him. A sick version of his own laugh turned towards himself and his vision was becoming spotty and were was he again

Dream blinked against the dark spots in his vision. He felt himself continue wheezing and breathing unevenly, memories of his own wheezing laughter mocking him. He felt dizzy and as if he could throw up at any moment. He needed control

Yet he could do nothing. For once in his life... Nothing was under his control anymore. Maybe control had already been slipping from his grasp, even before he came here.

'Maybe...' he thought to himself, through his labored breathing and uneven wheezing, 'Nothing was.'

His body fell as everything turned black.
