It was another stressful day. Even though Yona is still a teenager, she has to force herself to finish all of her unfinished stories. As much as she loves writing stories, she also get's tired when her story starts to get boring so she has to constantly find new inspirations. Good thing is that, she just finished her story that she wrote 3 or 4 years ago.
I'm so disappointing. I'd be disappointed in myself, also.
She leaned against the head of her bed and looked at the calender. Just two more days, she'll be a debutant, an adult already. Well, not really an adult, but she'll have the license to drive and vote. And get her bank account. Her eyes shine like stars thinking of the money she would get. She's going to college this year, she can't wait to design her boarding house with the money she'll receive. It'll be like her own house and privacy. She can't wait.
"Yona, are you still awake?" She heard her mom walking towards her room. She then quickly tucked herself under her sheets and pretended to be asleep. If she just stay still, her mom will leave, that doesn't mean her mom doesn't know that she's awake. But still, at least she doesn't have to hear her mom scold her again.
Tomorrow came, and Yona was walking to the school campus. The laboratory is at the 4th floor and it's exhausting her. She groan. She has to get used to this. It'll be 4 years of exhaustion every morning.
Her phone then rang revealing her father. He was video calling her. She's close to her father, but she knows, that there's a kind of wall between them. She still doesn't know how to act around her father. Everyone made it looked so easy to bond with their father, but she just can't bring herself to create a way pass the wall. She can't blame her father though, she thinks she was the one who created that wall between them. That awkwardness.
"Appa" she called out.
"Yona! Good morning, how are you, princess?" Her appa as always, greeted her with such a welcoming and happy tone. She hummed.
"Good morning. I'm on my way to the laboratory. The professor wanted to ask me something about my enrollment form" she said awkwardly like a robot.
Still her father remained the same vibe "Really? What is it about? Maybe they aren't going to accept you into their university anymore" her father joked but she only laughed a little to give respect of her father's humor.
"I don't think so. I have pretty high grades" she joke back "Anyway, I have to call you later. I'm at the laboratory already" she said. They both bid goodbye. She sighed as she looked over the whole campus.
Talking to her father. It felt like a responsibility. She doesn't know why she's feeling this way. She knows she loves her father, she'd instantly cry at the thought of losing her father. But she just doesn't know to deal with their communication. It's weird. Well, their distance maybe has got something to do with it. Her appa sometimes leave her for work for 6 months and only stays for 1 to 2 months. Ever since her young brother died from cancer, her appa worked even hard for her and her mom.
"What are you thinking about that got your brows furrowed that bad?" She heard someone. She look at her side and saw a woman, she had black short hair, kinda seem suspicious.
She shrug "Just personal matters" she said not disclosing anything.
"Wouldn't it be great to live in a world where you'd know what relationship is? Right now, children mostly have bad relationships with their parents. I just talked to one. Begged to know how it feels to be loved" the woman said.
She sighed and nodded "It would be great" she agreed.
"Why don't you start talking, maybe texting your parents? Who knows? Maybe it would be your last time to see them?" The woman said. She chuckled "People tend to express their true feelings at near death experiences" the woman added.
