The Outer Banks, Paradise on Earth.
Or so my mom used to say. She passed away due to Lung Cancer about 4 months ago. It's been hard without her but it's true what they say, as time goes on things get easier. We came to the Outer Banks every Summer because she grew up here and wanted me to experience all the same things she did. She also used to say that the Outer banks is the "sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one Island."

She "stole" that saying from one of her best friends from the OBX. I think his name was 'Big John' or at least that's what my mom used to call him as a joke and I guess it stuck. My dad and I decided to move to OBX to feel closer to my mom and on the other hand my 18 year old brother is also here in College which means we get to see him everyday instead of just holiday's since he'll be staying with us to save money.

I'm 16 right now, going into my Junior year. I'm technically a "kook" but my dad and I thought Public School was better because before we moved to OBX we lived in California and I went to Public School there too. My parents were always teaching me that I should be respectful of everyone no matter what their status or families income is. I think my dad didn't want me to go to the Private School mainly for Kooks because he didn't want me to become stuck-up like a lot of other Kooks are. Sarah decided to switch to the Public School too because all of her friends were at that school and because she became really good friends with Kiara again and they both wanted to go to school with JJ, Pope and John B.

We're moving into our new house today and I'm pretty excited but I'm also nervous to meet Sarah's friends. Sure, I've seen them around OBX but I've never really had a full on conversation with any of them, well, except for Kiara. Back in 9th grade when Kiara and Sarah were Best Friends the three of us hungout, just us girls, literally all summer long. Our parents didn't even have to ask, they just always set 2 extra places at the table for dinner because they knew that all three of us would be hanging out again. I haven't seen Sarah nor Kiara since last summer which was almost a year ago, as its only mid june (the beginning of summer).

The second we were driving in OBX I knew I'd be happy here. We crossed from "the cut" into "Figure Eight" and when I saw our house I swear to you the way my jaw dropped was unbelievable. As it turns out our house was the one right next to the Cameron's, how fortunate for later when I need Sarah's help decorating my room. Something you should know about me is that I'm pretty lazy so unless I have a friend with me I have absolutely ZERO motivation to do anything, whether it's important or not. All I could think was that the next two years of my life was going to be a wild adventure, and boy was I right!
