The Meet Up

  We arrive to this building which is obviously under construction and I'm not sure whether it's actually legal for us to be up here, but honestly who cares. I've been itching for an adventure and maybe just maybe this is the one I've been waiting for. We go through the tall building and up the stairs, only to hear what sounds like someone dancing on a rooftop. We come out onto what looks to be one of the roofs and suddenly the sun hits me right in the eye, I stumble a little on the last step but Sarah catches me and we hide around the corner to see what the guys are doing. Kiara is nowhere to be seen but I see a brunette boy who was trying to balance on one foot on the highest roof like it was a balance beam. I started to get anxious, but not because of his safety but because he had a beer in his hand and I didn't want it to spill. Ok, fine, maybe it was also a little bit because of his safety.

  One thing you should know is that I have anxiety and I have to take medication to make sure I don't get as many panic attacks. Last time I had one was about 2-3 weeks ago, I'm just thankful I haven't had one since. The only people who know are my dad, my brother, Sarah and Kie. I used to have them ever so often when my mom was alive but when she died it got so bad that I had to take medication which I don't enjoy doing cause it's not the healthiest but I'd rather not have many panic attacks so I take the medication anyway.

  I look back at the boys and see another boy holding a drill, testing it out on different things. He seems like a really nice guy and I'm excited to get to know him. Sarah is telling me the that is Pope and he's kinda like the smart one and he's really sweet, meaning I was right. The other boy who was on the rooftop dancing was named John B, he's Sarah's boyfriend. I'm happy that she's finally happy.

  Finally, we have the blonde boy, sitting on the rooftop and drinking a beer while looking out towards the water. I look at him and blush because of how hot he is. I move out of my place to get a better view of him and just as I do he looks around towards where I am. I stumble back so he doesn't see me and I fall a bit making a small sound that I'm pretty sure only Sarah and I could hear, thank god. Sarah looks at me and sees me blushing like an idiot. She can tell I like him and she tells me that I look hot asf right now and he'd be stupid to not think I am. She then proceeds to tell me that his name is JJ. Hm, a hot name for a hot guy I think, scared that I thought that out loud but I didn't.

Sarah pulls me out of our hiding spot and we start walking towards them. I decide in that moment that I'm gonna be totally confident and get JJ's attention no matter what. I definitely look the part, I mean I'm wearing a lace sports bra and booty shorts with my long brown hair down which honestly happens only once in a blue moon as I usually wear it up in a bun or ponytail. I don't wear much makeup usually so I just put on some concealer, blush and mascara to look at least halfway decent. I decided I would make a cheeky comment to get the boys attention cause when has being cheeky ever failed, am I right?? Jesus, this is not gonna go well, but oh well it's too late now.

"That's what, a three-story fall to the deck? I give you about a one-in-three chance of survival." I say as I walk up to near where JJ is sitting.

"Hm.. and who're you again?" John B asks sarcastically

"Kaylie, Kaylie Andrews." I answer him honestly. I think I've been witty enough for now, I wanna make a good first impression after all. You can hear and see a chorus of nods from John B and Pope while JJ eyes me suspiciously. Well, that's one version of attention I suppose. Ugh. He doesn't seem to trust me. Weird.

I hear footsteps behind me and suddenly remember that Madison is here too. She walks out and walks towards John B, her cousin.

"Hey there Cuz." She smirks at him while speaking.

He looks surprised, I wonder why. It's almost like he's not happy to see her which I thought he would be.

I look towards Sarah for answers, she looks almost guilty. I look at what she's watching which is John B talking to Madison but they don't seem too happy. I'm starting to feel a little guilty too but I don't even know why. I can't hear anything they're saying until Madison walks away and yells at him.

"FINE, IF I'M SO UNWELCOME BY YOU I'LL JUST LEAVE! HAPPY??" She yells at him and storms out.

I decide to text her and make sure she's okay as she's already out of the building and I'm too lazy to walk that far right now.

Me: heyy! Are you ok? Do you wanna talk about it? Sarah and I can be there in 10.

Madii: heyy! No it's fine don't worry we'll talk later! Enjoy your time with the guys, Kie and Sarah! I have work to do now for school anyway xx

Me: ok have fun with that, talk later xx

  Well at least she says she's ok. Imma make a mental note though to check in with her later. I look back to the guys and slightly laugh at what they're suggesting.

  "Should I do it?" John b says

  "Yeah, jump." I say sarcastically

  "I'll shoot you on the way down." Pope says to him. Part of me thinks he was joking but the other part thinks he wasn't.

  I hear another pair of footsteps and I turn around only to be met with my other best friend who I haven't seen yet since I arrived.

  "They're gonna have Japanese toilets with towel war-" she starts to say but stops in her tracks when she sees me and runs over to me.

  "Omg Kaylie it's been way too long but now that you live here we can see each other all the time! I missed you so much!!" She practically yells. I'm pretty sure that the mainland of Charleston could hear her.

  "I missed you too!! Now what were you saying about the turtles?" I say while laughing slightly.

  "This used to be a turtle habitat, but who cares about the turtles, I guess?" She says sadly and annoyed at the same time.

  "Hmph." I reply.

  "Don't spill that beer. I'm not giving you another one." JJ says as I turn to look at him and John B to see what they're doing. I laugh out loud and JJ looks at me and smirks. I can feel my cheeks heating up at the eye contact we're still holding to this very moment. I never want to look away fro-  CRASH. I look towards where the sound came from and see the beer bottle which fell out of John B's hand. I mentally face palm at the sight of a broken beer bottle.

  "Of course you did. Smooth." I say to him. Sarcasm laced in my voice. JJ looks back at me and laughs at my joke which made me have butterflies in my stomach. Maybe he does trust me aft-

  "Hey! Hey, uh, security's here. Let's wrap it up. Boys are early today." SHIT.
