(This is a flashback to chapter 5)

The car ride was rather silent.

At least it was for you.

You were completely knocked out, sleeping a few minutes after Childe started the car. It could be because his car was so comfortable, or maybe you were just too tired from today's work. The last thing you remembered was stopping at a red light as Childe texted someone on his phone, smiling, before taking off again.

Glancing over to you occasionally, Childe tried his best to be as quiet as possible, making sure that you were actually asleep.

Once he was sure, he started speaking, saying things that you might want to know; but what a shame, you're asleep.

After texting Thoma about what happened today, Childe closed his phone with a smile, looking at you with adoration. Observing your sleeping state only for a few seconds, the green light ushered Childe to continue driving, as he decided to speak what was bottled up in his heart for all this time.

'You must've wondered why I didn't contact you the last few years'
