Chapter IX

The Truth

When the morning bell rang, Alyna waddled out from Aurora's bed, still a bit groggy. Zed was stirring on the top bunk, Aurora was preparing a pre-breakfast snack for the group (slices of bread with a honey spread) and Hat was still snoring. When Alyna went to open the bureau to get her hair caddy, she saw that someone, probably Aurora, folded everyone's clothes and placed them neatly in the creaky piece of furniture.

"Good morning Zed!" Alyna said brightly.

"Morning, Alyna!" Zed said, trying to sound happy.

"Yesterday was kind of scary for me." Alyna said, remembering the horrors of last night.

"Yeah, I remember when it was my first time. It's pretty scary at first, but you get used to all the chaos." Zed reassured her.

"Your snack is ready!" Aurora bellowed from the other side of the curtain.

Upon hearing the word 'snack', Hat scrambled and rushed out of bed.

"Morning, Hat!" Alyna said to the overly-energized counterpart.

"G'morning Alyna." Hat said, jittery and smiling like a clown.

When Aurora passed out the snack, Hat stuffed her face, she became a chipmunk. Alyna took dainty bites of the bread, while Zed shoved her face with the baked good. After they finished eating, Aurora undid the grille, tied up the curtain, undid another grille, and turned the deadbolt to the defunct side.

"Good morning Arachna Residents, we hope you had a pleasant sleep, breakfast will be served in an hour, laundry is today, bring your dirty clothes to the collection bin on your dorm floor."

"Heh, pleasant." Hat scoffed.

"Losers." Zed muttered

"I'll get the clothing." Alyna spoke to the flustered Aurora.

Alyna grabbed the wooden basket filled with wrinkled uniforms, grabbed the dorm key and went to the dorm hallway. She saw many people filing out of their dorms, then going to the white canvas basket. She dumped the clothes into the bin, then went back to her dorm. When everyone got dressed, everyone dumped their pajamas in the laundry bin.

"We should go to the washrooms and get cleaned up." Aurora suggested.

The group nodded, and they grabbed a lavender tote bag, filled it with hairbrushes, hair picks, deodorant, some skincare items and a bottle of lavender body spray.

They were wearing white slip-on shoes, grabbed their bags, and threw on their sweaters. Zed had a white cardigan, Alyna chose a lavender fuzzy pullover, Hat wore a black trench coat, and Aurora put on a gray sweater. Hat then tied her hair back and put a black beanie with safety pins over her hair.

When the group arrived at the washrooms, they saw that everyone else had the same idea. Hat smeared a cream on her face, put on some black eyeliner and black lipstick, Zed brushed her hair and put on some serums, Aurora used an amethyst face roller, and Alyna used a hair pick. Everyone then used some deodorant.

"Attention all patients, breakfast is in 30 minutes, make sure to arrive on time and to be in proper attire, again breakfast in 30 minutes."

When everyone was finished, they headed back to the dorm room, made their beds, put away their products and made another honey bread slice.

"Mmm, this is delicious!" Alyna said, even though it came out like "Mmm, dish ih dewishish!"

Zed chuckled and Hat ate more bread.

"We should be going to breakfast soon. I don't want to be late." Aurora said.
