It's been two years since Emerald moved to New York as Miranda Jones. Lia, the woman Dylan employed was very nice. She was like a mother to her and Miranda didn't fail to call her mom. Lia too treated her like a daughter.
The house was quite large for a three bedroom. The house was a duplex. Two of the rooms were upstairs and one downstairs. Each of the rooms were en suite. The rooms and bathrooms were massive and luxurious.
There was a two room chalet close to the large gate. The security and driver lived there. There was a pool and garden.
Miranda stayed in the master bedroom while, Lia stayed in the room downstairs. Mira wanted her to say upstairs but Lia insisted on staying downstairs. Lia was more like a housekeeper.
Miranda worked as the secretary to the CEO of Secrets Empire. Leonard Beverly. Leo was cold and closed off. He was the typical cold CEO. His previous secretaries were nothing to write home about. The men were incompetent and the ladies were always trying to seduce him. He had to fire most of them while some quit unable to cope with his cold attitude. Mira didn't care about his cold attitude. She did her work diligently.
Miranda tossed and groaned as her alarm rang. Left with no choice, she decided to get up from the bed to prepare for the day. After taking her bath, she dressed up corporately. She wore a sleeveless yellow gown that was slightly above her knees, she wore a cream colored blazer. She put her necessary items in her handbag. Miranda had never been a fan of make up, so, she didn't use it. She just applied a little lip gloss on her lips. She brushed her curly hair and let it fall on her shoulders.
"Good morning mom" she greeted kissing Lia on the cheek. Lia smiled. "Good morning dear" she replied with a smile. Lia placed a steaming cup of coffee in front of her. "You look beautiful" she complemented her and Miranda blushed. "Thanks" she replied and took a sip of the coffee.
Her phone rang and she already knew who it was. She picked the call almost immediately.
"Hello your royal highness" she teased smiling widely. Dylan laughed.
"How's my princess doing?" he asked. Mira giggled.
"She's fine" she replied.
Miranda told Lia that she ran away from home with the help of her brother because she didn't want to marry the person her parents chose for her. Mira didn't tell Lia that she was a princess. She just told her that her parents were very rich.
After breakfast, Miranda kissed Lia goodbye and left the house. Dylan banned his sister from driving herself. She knew how to drive but Dylan didn't want her to drive herself, hence, the driver. She greeted Greg, her driver before getting into the car. They made small talks on the way. Miranda preferred not to have friends outside her home and so, Greg and James, the security were her friends.
Miranda was never late to work. She made every effort to always be on time. She got to work at the latest, 30 minutes before her resumption time. No matter how early Miranda got to work, she would always meet Leo in the office. She could have sworn he lives in the office if she hadn't been to his house on few occasions and saw him leave the office sometimes.
"Good morning sir" she greeted. Leo looked up from the papers he was focused on. "Good morning" he replied. Miranda was shocked. Leo didn't speak to her unless it was absolutely necessary. He usually replied her greetings with a curt nod. Miranda played it off as nothing and went on with her activities. "He's probably in a good mood this morning" she thought.
Twenty minutes until Leo's first meeting for the day, Miranda went to his office to remind him. "Thank you" Leo replied shocking Miranda once again. Leo had studied Miranda enough to know that she was different. He hardly ever complained about her work. She was so efficient.
He couldn't help but think and conclude that Miranda was rich even before she began working with him. He noticed that she doesn't drive herself to work. He often wondered what she was doing in Secrets if she was well to do.
Miranda had on more than one occasion given him some advice on some business deals to which he was grateful for. He decided to include her in some of his meetings with business partners.
Five minutes to the meeting time, Miranda returned to Leo office to inform him. She turned around to leave. "Wait.." his voice stopped her.
