While izaya and shizuo were fighting, Ariel, Celty, and shinra, were eating cookies and milk. "How do you like the apartment Ariel?" Shinra asked, breaking the awkward silence between the two. Celty had to call in for another transporter job. Celty left Shinra in charge hoping he wouldn't wouldn't do something stupid. "The place is beautiful!!" Ariel said, glad that they are starting conversation. Ariel hoped that her and Shinra would become great friends, like she and shizuo had. "Why thank you, me and Celty worked hard decorating this apartment. Not that were always around to enjoy it though." Shinra exclaimed sheepishly. "Your an underground doctor right? You don't have a license for it, but you still do it?" Ariel asked, interested with this job. "Ya. My father does this job too. When I was little, my father would teach me how to become a surgeon and work with other things, like viruses and colds." Shinra states, choosing his words carefully. He didn't want to say anything graphic around a child, even though she was smart and acted like an adult. It was bad for Ariel's mind. "BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!!" Shinras phone went off. "Hello?" Shinra answered the phone. "Yes... Yes.... Hmmm. I be over as soon as I can." Shinra said through the phone. He snapped it shut and got out his medical bag. "Ariel, you need to come with me ok? You can stay in the room over. Someone needs me." Shinra said grabbing his and Ariel's shoes, then writing a note to Celty in case she got home before them. "Alright." Ariel said putting on her shoes and finishing the rest of her cookies and milk.

"Aright Ariel, you go sit in the living room." Shinra said, already hurrying over to his patient. Ariel sat down as Shinra was working in his patient. After a while, Shinra called. "I can't extract the bullet!! I can't fit my hands in the wound, and by the time I do, he's already going to be dead!!" Shinra yells, stressed. "I can help!" Ariel calls, running over to where Shinra sat trying to figure out another way. He looked at Ariel with worried eyes. "Is this a bullet wound? if it is, where is the bullet located in the body, how big is it, and what is the angle it's pointed at?" Ariel said confident in her words. "You can't extract a bullet! Your only nine!!" Shinra yells, exasperated with the little girl. "Yes. I can. My adoptive mom used to be a nurse and I was the assistant. I used to help with surgeries like this." Ariel said, trying to sooth the doctor. "Fine, I will let you help. You are the last hope to keep him alive." Shinra said with trusting eyes. After that it was a race against the clock to keep him alive. Ariel put in some doctors gloves and went straight to work. "The byllet is pointed at 36 degrees parallel. It's stuck in the arm joint beneath the bone." Shinra said ponging it out. Ariel inspected the wound. "Get an IV hooked up to him if you have one. It would help keep nutrients in him and help with blood loss, and to keep him from deteriorating." Ariel said. Shinra was astonished that a little girl knew that. "On it." Shinra said following Ariel's orders. Ariel moved her hands skillfully into the wound with tweezers and under the bone. When she finally grasped the bullet shell with the tweezers, she pulled it, making sure that she didn't hit any vitals on the way up, and pulled it out. She laid it on a napkin and tray, and once again skillfully sewed up his arm. When she was finished, she looked up to see Shinra wide eyed and mouth hanging ajar. "Y-you skillfully extracted a bullet and sewed up the arm too!! Without a single mistake!!" Shinra stuttered. The two started cleaning up and gave the girl who cared for the man, a couple of drugs and pain killers for the man. "Use the drugs only when needed and the pain killers when he is in pain." Ariel said. The woman smiled. "Thank you for saving his life." The women said with tears in her eyes. A few moments later, as they were walking out the door, the man woke up. "Thank you for saving my life!! Let me pay you doctor!!" The man said struggling to get his wallet. "First, it wasn't me who saved you, it was this little girl named Ariel. Second, you don't need to pay a thing." The doctor said, glancing Ariel's way. She looked ready to drop at any minute. "Please, take at least a $1.00!" The man pleaded. Ariel smiled at the man. "Are you sure?" Ariel asked. "Yes. You are a great person, you saved my life. I have to at least pay you back for that." Before Ariel could reply, the man gave the girl the dollar, and went to bed. The two said good bye, and took a cab home. On the way there, Ariel fell asleep. 'Oi, she's such a darling little girl' Shinra thought to himself. Since shizuo wasn't paying attention, as the cab was passing two blocks from there apartment, outside, shizuo and izaya were fighting to their hearts content.
