(SUGOROKU is inside stocking the shelves. ANZU is on stage waiting)
YUGI: (OFF STAGE) I'm home.
(Enter YUGI)
ANZU: Yugi!
YUGI: (LOOKS AT Anzu) Anzu?! Hey!
ANZU: Heh heh. I thought I'd come over to play.
YUGI: Okay.
(YUGI and ANZU head inside the store)
SUGOROKU: Come on in!
ANZU: Ahhh!
SUGOROKU: Here now, Anzu. It's rude to scream at people.
ANZU: H-hello. (TURNS TO Yugi) Hey, Yugi! What's going on here?! You said that puzzle was a memento of your grandpa!
YUGI: Oh, that. I meant it's going to be a memento.
SUGOROKU: I'm not dead yet! You've grown since I last saw you, Anzu. Especially your bust! Almost to the thirty-two inch mark?!
ANZU: (LAUGHS NERVOUSLY)
YUGI: Hey, Anzu! Let's work on puzzles in my room!
ANZU: Okay.
YUGI: (LOOKS AT Sugoroku) Iced tea for us, Grandpa!
(YUGI starts to exit)
SUGOROKU: What's this, Yugi? You still haven't given up on that puzzle?
(YUGI stops before he had exited the stage)
YUGI: (LOOKS AT Sugoroku) Who'd give up?
SUGOROKU: The Millennium Puzzle is beyond human understanding. It's too hard for you. And it has all sorts of unsavory rumors attached to it.
ANZU: Rumors?
SUGOROKU: The Millennium Puzzle was discovered at the beginning of the twentieth-century. A team of British archaeologists took it out of a pharaoh's crypt in the Valley of the Kings. However, afterward all those in the team died mysterious deaths, and the last one said with his dying breath, "The Shadow Games".
ANZU: (NERVOUSLY) Yugi, that puzzle is dangerous.
(YUGI gets out the gold box from his bookbag)
YUGI: What are "Shadow Games"? Sounds cool!
SUGOROKU: They say the hieroglyphs carved into the box say this; "The one who solves me shall gain the powers and knowledge of darkness".
YUGI: (EXCITED) It does grant your wish! Now I'm really fired up! I'll finish it no matter what!
SUGOROKU: Give that back! The price that would bring!
YUGI: You just want to sell it!
(YUGI and SUGOROKU exit by running. Noise is heard from off stage)
SUGOROKU: (OFF STAGE) Give it back!
YUGI: (OFF STAGE) No way! This is my memento of grandpa!
SUGOROKU: (OFF STAGE) I'm not dead yet!
ANZU: Um, I'm going to go. See you later.
(ANZU exits. Fade to Black)
