(YUGI is sitting at his desk with bandages on his face. He empties his coin bank onto the desk and counts the money)
YUGI: 1,656 yen. Ahh, what should I do? 200,000 yen. That's way too much money. What should I do? If I don't pay, he'll beat me up again!
(YUGI starts working on the Millennium Puzzle, the shoves it aside)
YUGI: Ah, what am I doing working on a puzzle? This isn't the time for that. (LOOKS AROUND ROOM) But I can't think of anything to do. Working on a puzzle at least makes me feel better.
(YUGI works on the Millennium Puzzle)
YUGI: (FITS PIECE IN PLACE) Ah! It went in! I get it. After you put this piece in, you give it a half-turn. Then this one has to go in too. I see! It's strange, but solving the puzzle is easy today, even though I feel awful. (FITS IN MORE PIECES, GASPS) I - I - I did it?! When I fit the last piece in, it's done! (REACHES INTO BOX, FEELS AROUND) Huh? Where's the piece? (LOOKS IN BOX) It's gone! The last piece isn't there! Gone! (LOOKS ALL OVER ROOM) Where is it? I must've dropped it somewhere! No way! No way! No way! It's gone!! (STARTS CRYING) The Puzzle. The Puzzle. I can never solve the Puzzle! I'll never get my wish! (CRYS)
(Enter SUGOROKU, who has a piece of the Millennium Puzzle in his pocket, and an envelope of money in his left hand. He looks at the unfinished Puzzle)
SUGOROKU: (AMAZED) Whoa-ho! I'm amazed! You finished the Millennium Puzzle!
YUGI: (CRYING) No. I couldn't finish it after all, Grandpa.
SUGOROKU: (PICKS UP PUZZLE) Let's see here. Ho ho! Yugi, you've poured your heart into this puzzle for the last eight years. You should have more faith!
YUGI: (TURNS TO Sugoroku) Huh?
SUGOROKU: Your wish will be granted! (GETS PUZZLE PIECE OUT OF POCKET) Here.
YUGI: (GASPS, TAKES PIECE) Grandpa! (HUGS Sugoroku) Thank you! You found it for me!
SUGOROKU: Here now. Yugi, I wasn't the one who found it.
YUGI: Huh?
SUGOROKU: A friend of yours just came by. He asked me to give that to you. Even though it wasn't raining, he was soaking wet.
YUGI: I wonder who it was. Tell him I said "thank you".
SUGOROKU: Sure thing. (PUTS ENVELOPE IN Yugi's BOOKBAG) Yugi, I've put some money in your bag for you.
YUGI: Thanks, Grandpa.
SUGOROKU: No problem. Good night, Yugi.
YUGI: Good night!
(SUGOROKU exits. YUGI sits at his desk, and picks up the Millennium Puzzle)
YUGI: I'm finally going to finish the Millennium Puzzle! (NERVOUSLY) Okay. Here we go.
(YUGI fits in the last piece of the Millennium Puzzle, which glows)
YUGI: Huh? What's going on?! (IN PAIN) Ahhhhhh!
(YUGI collapses onto the ground. He then changes into YAMI YUGI. YAMI YUGI gets up)
YAMI YUGI: Man, that was so weird. What just happened? Huh? I sound more like a man, for my voice is deeper. (LOOKS AT MILLENNIUM PUZZLE) Did the Puzzle bond with me? But still, I'm ready to get back at Ushio for hurting my friends, and stealing money from people.
(YAMI YUGI exits, then returns wearing a new outfit. He then puts the Millennium Puzzle around his neck, gets the envelope of money out of his bookbag, then exits the stage. Fade to Black)
