The following morning, Emily slurs awake, still settled in the same position as she fell asleep under Bucky's arms. She looks up to him, a smile forming on her lips as she softly plays with the ends of his hair gently to not wake him too quickly. As he starts to stir, he looks around quickly before looking down to the smiling girl and he smiles softly, "G'morning Doll."
"Hey, did you sleep well?"
"Yes, thanks to you." He says and they smile to each other, a blush forming on her cheeks as she stares at him. "Hey, you know, I never noticed that necklace you were wearing before, is it new?"
"Oh, no, my grandmother gave it to me before I left. She says it's supposed to bring good luck wherever I go."
"Does it work?"
"For now, yes that I know of." She says and smiles sweetly to him.
"Should we head downstairs?"
"Sure, let's go..." Bucky says with a side smile as he gets out of bed, Emily following close behind. The two get changed in their own rooms and make their way downstairs together, noticing everybody already set up in the kitchen eating.
"How did you love birds sleep?" Natasha said with a smirk as she hands them two plates of food and they sit at the kitchen island.
"What?" Emily chokes out some food she was about to eat.
"Nothing!"
"Okey dokey... So, do we have anything to do today?" Emily asks, looking around at the group.
"Nope, today is a relaxed day, time to rest." Steve says as he crosses his arms and sits back in his chair at the dining table.
"Yay--"
"Time to suit up Rogers, everyone, we have a mission."
"Spoke too soon, but that's cool too."
"This one is an emergency too, everybody suit up, Emily, you're doing information at home."
"Yes, yes, I know, I'll go set up."
"Sorry Kiddo, you'll be on the next one." Tony says as he pats her back and she just nods and salutes him.
As the team heads out Bucky and Emily glance to each other, smiling as they nod their heads to each other, "Stay alive,"
"Don't worry doll, I plan on seeing you later." He says and winks as he smirks and walks out, she smiles rolling her eyes and heading back in herself.
The mission starts as Emily is giving out commands to them and looking at multiple huge computer screens checking infront to make sure they see everything coming. Soon an alarm blares out through the computer, Emily's face twists up as she mumbles slurs under her breath.
"Emily. What is going on?" Tony asks, hearing the siren through his suit.
"Good question, let me check." She says as she begins typing furiously onto the keyboard adding codes and looking through the system. "Oh no..."
"Em, what is going on."
"Hydra is going on. They're trying to enter the system."
"Can't be possible, my system is impassible."
"Apparently not. Hold on, let me try and sort this out." She says quickly adding multiple code messages and adding newer codes into the system but nothing seems to be working. "Shit..." She mumbles as she frantically looks around the screens and then off to the side before her eyes widen with an idea. "J.A.R.V.I.S! Activate Omega defense prototype."
Jarvis's light turns on from the other computer screen and speaks, "Are you sure miss Emily, because it is still a prototype and-"
"Yes, I'm sure! We don't have time to talk Jarvis!"
"As you wish." Jarvis responds as he turns on the defense prototype.
She begins adding more codes into the system when her shoulders tense up as she feels eyes on her. She continues finishing up a code she is working on.
"How's it going Emily?"
"I'm on it." Emily states as she turns around, a Hydra agent starts to run at her as they begin to fight each other. She kicks him off of her as they fight some more before either pull out any type of weapon. She beats him down to the ground leaving him unconscious before she runs back to the computer to finish adding another code before her body goes cold and tense as something sticks through her abdomen, when she looks down some blood is trickling down.
She quickly turns to him and snaps his neck, finishing him off, blood still flowing out as she coughs but she hurries to get the siren off and Hydra out. As she enters another code it works and she sighs happily. But then a laugh hums through the speakers of the computer.
"You are a very naive little girl. Did you really believe it would work that easy?" A laugh booms through again and her happy face then disappears into a look of anger.
"Hydra?"
"Your friends are not as safe as you think they are..."
"What are you talking about..." There's a pause while she thinks before her eyes widen and she mumbles, "it was a diversion.." A humble giggle goes through the mic as she runs to the computer hitting the intercom button. "Tony! It is a trap get out of there!" She yells trying to get through to them.
"It isn't going to work, stop trying. We cut off communication between you and them. Sorry you couldn't say goodbye one last time."
She huffs and throws on a pair of sneakers as she holds her abdomen running to the weapons room around the corridor taking one of Nat's assault rifles.
"Good luck getting there, but you're injured."
"And?"
"And closing doors."
"What? No!" Emily yells as she runs to the outside door as a huge door begins to shut, she runs as fast as she can and slides out just making it in time before it closes behind her. She gets up slowly as she runs off to the Avengers location.
