Hot Hot Heat

Earlier tonight,

I sat

Legs bared to the chilled air.

Inhaling the frigid burn

Exhaling nicotine tinged

Lung steam.

Blue gray stems

Danced in the moonbeams ; twirled skywards from my pursed pout

And then

for no fathomable reason at all,

As my cherry was still lit,

I flicked my bic

with a resonating

click

and then the hiss of a flame.

I gazed,

enraptured by its beauty.

I lifted up thumb

from the pink plastic pad

and turned by lighter topsy turvy.

I brought it down onto my thigh flesh.

I gasped and lifted it quickly.

The sting of the burn,

A shocked nerve

I rubbed the red skin to soothe,

or maybe savor the hurt.

I remembered the pain

Was transfixed by the thought.

I ignited my lighter once more.

Let the fire live longer

While I puffed and huffed

Another marlboro.

I stuck the lighter to my body once more

The heat frazzled me

I let go

As the hiss from my lips

replaced the fires roar.

Bliss-

It burns.
