Christmas Eve

Gracies POV (6 Years Old)

"How much longer?" I asked for the thousandth time as I lied upside down with my head hanging off the sofa,

"Still two more hours sweetie" Will told me as he tidied around the kitchen,

"But how long until Jay and Hailey get here?" I asked and I heard Will let out an audible sigh,

"I don't know Gracie" he shrugged "some point before then" he added and I sighed,

"I'm bored" I complained as I kicked my feet around haphazardly,

"Well if you can wait two more minutes then you can decorate these cookies for Santa" my brother told me and I sat up the right way on the sofa,

"Do they all have to be for Santa?" I asked with a slight frown causing him to smirk,

"Well that depends" he replied "are you gonna keep nagging me about the time?" He asked making my eyes widened slightly and I shook my head frantically "then I'm sure Santa won't mind sharing" he told me and I gave him a gap toothed smile "why don't you go and wash your hands first" he suggested and I rushed off to do so.

Once I had clean hands I ran back to the kitchen and jumped on to one of the chairs with my legs tucked under my butt,

"Ok" Will said as he walked over to the table with a plate filled with the cookies we had made earlier in the day "let's try and keep as much of the icing on the cookies as we can" he suggested as he put down different tubes of icing in front of me along with different tubs of sprinkles. I set to work making sure each and every inch of every cookie was covered in the brightly coloured decorations; by the time all of them had been decorated the table and floor around me was littered with spilt sprinkles "so much for keeping the decorations on the cookies" Will commented as I licked my fingers clean "right. I'm gonna go and run you a bath" he told me "don't move from that chair until I come get you, and don't touch anything" he warned before leaving to sort my bath out.

I heard the water begin to run and at that same moment I heard keys in the lock and Jay and Hailey walked in to the apartment with overnight bags,

"JAY" I exclaimed as I jumped off the chair and ran over to him,

"Hey kiddo" he greeted as he picked me up "what on earth have you been doing?" He asked with widened eyes once he noticed my sticky hands and face along with the trail of sprinkles that had followed me across the kitchen,

"Decorating cookies for Santa" I told him as he put me on the floor "but I also made one for me, you, Will and Hailey" I said excitedly as he ruffled my hair "come look Hailey" I said as I grabbed her hand and pulled her in to the messy kitchen and showed her the plate filled with Christmas cookies,

"Wow Gracie" she exclaimed "they look delicious" she beamed "definitely the most colourful cookies I've ever seen" she commented and I nodded in agreement. Just then Will reappeared from the bathroom,

"Gracie" he scolded lightly "I told you to stay sat down" he reminded and I smiled sheepishly,

"Sorry" I apologised "but Jay and Hailey came in" I explained and he shook his head,

"Go and get in the bath" he instructed "someone'll be there in a minute to help you with your hair" he told me and I did as I was told.

I had my bath and Jay came and washed my hair before I got out and put my fluffy Minnie Mouse robe on,

"Hailey, will you dry my hair?" I asked her "Jay alway pulls" I explained and she smiled,

"Sure. Lets go" she said as I took her hand and led her to my bedroom where she brushed all of the knots out of my hair before blowdrying it straight. Once it was dry she helped me change in to my red sparkly party dress and she left to get herself changed. I sat and watched as she applied makeup to her face with ease and elegance,
