Gracies POV (9 Years Old)

"Jay" I squealed excitedly as I ran over to him across the playground to where he was sitting on a bench "Sam and Ami are going to the store to get some ice cream, can I go as well?" I asked as I bounced on the balls of my feet,

"You're not going on your own kiddo" he replied making me frown,

"I'm not going on my own I'm going with Sam and Ami" I replied confused,

"That's not what I mean" he replied "you're not going without a grown up" he added "I can come with you of you want to go" he suggested but I shook my head,

"I don't need you to come with me Jay, Sam and Ami are allowed to go on their own" I complained "It's only over there" I exclaimed, pointing to the small convenience store across the street,

"You're not going Gracie" Jay said firmly,

"Please Jay" I pleaded "I wanna go" I exclaimed,

"If you wanna go then I can come with you, otherwise you're staying here" he said finally,

"That's not fair" I complained,

"Well that's my answer Gracie" he shrugged casually causing me to roll my eyes and huff,

"Fine" I snapped and turned to storm away from him,

"Gracie" Jay said sternly as I continued to storm away "Gracelyn" he said making stop in my tracks,

"What?" I snapped back making him raise an unimpressed eyebrow at me,

"Do you wanna go home?" He asked seriously and I shook my head silently "huh?" He promoted,

"No" I sighed,

"Then I suggest you change your attitude" he replied and I huffed angrily,

"But you're being unfair" I snapped,

"Forget about it. It's not happening" he repeated,

"I don't care, I'm going" I said determinedly,

"Gracelyn Halstead, I said no" he said frustratedly "now drop it or I'm taking you home" he warned once again,

"Fine, next time I'll just do it and you won't notice" I shrugged,

"Right, go say goodbye to your friends" he ordered finally making me whine,

"Nooo" I groaned "I don't wanna go home yet" I added,

"I warned you to change the attitude and you chose to ignore me so, we're going home" he explained firmly.

"I'm not going" I shook my head,

"Gracelyn" he warned,

"No I wanna stay" I said determinedly,

"You've got two options. You can either go over there and say goodbye to your friends and walk to the car nicely" he began "or, I can carry you back to the car like a toddler and you can spend then rest of the afternoon in your bedroom" he finished.

"I'm too old for you to carry me Jay, I'm nearly ten" I reminded "I'm not going home I'm staying here" I repeated,

"Have it your way" he said finally before lifting me up and throwing me over his shoulder. I pounded my fists on his back but got no reaction until we made it back to his truck and he put me on the floor,

"You're being unfair" I declared tearfully "I don't wanna go home" I added and turned to walk back away from him,

"Well you should of taken my first warning and listened then, shouldn't you" he replied "now get in" he instructed,
