Two months passed since the couple got married and they've never been much more happier.
However, Sandhya hid a sadness in her heart and did not dare to share it with anyone, not even her husband nor her new best friend, Akshara.
Again like many other days, Sandhya sat down at Abhimaan's work table in the room and took a piece of blank paper. She looked at it and tears filled her eyes. Unconsciously, she lifted the pen and dipped it in the ink and wrote down every feeling in her heart on the piece of paper.
The paper got filled with her writing however it was too small to contain what her heart was pouring out in the form of written words.
Sandhya getting out of her daze stopped, rolled the paper and put it in the box where many other such letters were and hid it in a drawer underneath her clothes.
She walked outside to the garden and went to the fountain. She laid beside it and let her hand play with the water. The sound of flowing water brought her restless heart so much peace.
Needless to say, she was more than grateful for everything she had today. Abhimaan is the best husband, advisor, life mentor, teacher, confidante and lover to her.
But there was also a void feeling in her heart.
She kept wiping away the tears that flowed uncontrollably from her eyes. Crying would not do anything to soothe her heart.
She cried to sleep, by the fountain letting the sound of flowing water relax her mind. Sandhya woke up when she felt someone shaking her. She rubbed her eyes that were still hazy and Abhimaan came clearer in her vision.
"Maan?" She asked in confusion, furrowing her eyebrows. She sat back took notice of her surrounding. She was still outside and the sun had already settled down.
"Are you okay, Jaan?" Abhimaan asked worriedly.
Sandhya nodded, fixing her dupatta.
"What happened?" Sandhya asked cupping Abhimaan's cheek, noticing his closed off expression.
Abhimaan held Sandhya's hand and kissed her palm and each of her fingers. His kisses were soft yet desperate. He moved up to her arms and to her neck, without saying any word. Yet, Sandhya could feel something was wrong and stopped him.
"Tell me." She ordered softly.
"I am leaving for a few days, tomorrow." As soon as the words left Abhimaan's lips, Sandhya froze. She knew one day she would be all alone without him in the palace due to his kingly duties but never expected it to be so soon.
"I'll be back soon." He added quickly, his heart ached seeing his wife's expression.
Sandhya could only give a slight nod in answer, trying hard to control the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.
Abhimaan placed a finger under her chin and lifted her face. He pressed a gentle kiss on her lips. Sandhya at first resisted but soon melted in the kiss.
Abhimaan removed the dupatta from her body and released the strings of her blouse, still not breaking the kiss. When, Sandhya understood his intention, she pushed him gently.
Abhimaan eyes were filled with lust and desire for his gorgeous wife.
"Here?" She questioned and Abhimaan confirmed her doubt, "Here." He kissed her again but Sandhya was unsure and pulled away.
"Someone will see us." Sandhya said, desperately.
"No one will come. No guards are allowed here and I ordered the maids to not come here." Abhimaan answered and Sandhya relaxed in his touch and gave him complete control of her body but Abhimaan was not having it. Instead, he pulled her on top of him.
"Maan?" Sandhya half moaned and half questioned.
"You'll be on top and have control." He ordered, trusting into her. Sandhya threw her head back, moaning. Abhimaan placed his hands on her waist and guided her, making Sandhya feel another wave of pleasure with her in lead.
~
After their hour of lovemaking, they lay in each other's arm in the middle of the garden with Sandhya's head on Abhimaan chest and his hands wrapped tightly around Sandhya's waist while her heavy velvet burgundy dupatta covered their naked bodies.
A thought kept coming in Sandhya's mind but she kept pushing it away.
But still the thought kept bugging her.
Abhimaan must have been with many women in the past, for god's sake not long ago she was also one of the women meant for his pleasure during one of his tours. What if he seeks pleasure elsewhere while away this time as well?
'No Sandhya! He is married to you now.' Sandhya's mind consoled her. But he was a man, not only that but an emperor. He had no restrictions, he can do what his heart desires and he definitely won't be monogamous; he is a king.
"What happened meri jaan?" Abhimaan asked noticing Sandhya was lost.
"Nothing." Sandhya shook her head.
"Now you start hiding things from me?" He reprimanded making Sandhya's eyes go wide.
"Of course not! It's just-that-"
"What?"
"I want to use one of the promises." She said and Abhimaan nodded, urging her to continue.
"I wish to be the only woman who shares an intimate relationship with you. I want to be the sole woman for your pleasure. You're a king, nothing can stop you. But I am selfish of your love and want you for myself. I cannot tell you to not marry again because I don't want to interfere in your duty but I want your heart, body, and soul to be mine and mine only." Sandhya boldly confessed, she was also confused where did she get this confidence.
Abhimaan grabbed Sandhya by the back of her neck and pulled her face closer to his.
"My loyalty is to you Sandhya, you don't have to ask for it. I don't desire any other woman but you and you'll never have to question it. But if it reassures you, I promise it to you that you will be the only woman in here." He took her hand and placed it on his chest where his heart was. "And that you and only you will have right on me." He promised, pressing his forehead to hers.
And like that, Sandhya had got her first promise; Abhimaan's loyalty.
