Just as Sandhya let go of her body and she waited for the upcoming pain of falling onto shards of crystals, the pain never came. Instead, before she could fall, she fell into a warm embrace, a pair of arms surrounded around her shoulder and torso, stopping her from falling.
Her nostrils filled with a warm familiar scent and her eyes met with her most favorite ones. A faint smile came on her face before she fell unconscious.
Her Maan with here.
The whole room fell silent and shock covered their faces as they saw the King. His arrival was clearly a surprise to everyone.
"Abhi-" Badi raj mata started but was stopped as Abhimaan raised his hand as a sign to stop. Fire of anger was blazing through his eyes but he did not say a single word. Instead, he lifted his wife in his arms and walked to their room.
His anger was like a high wave of energy and could be felt as he walked through the corridors of the castle.
He ordered one of the maid who he saw, to send in the doctor immediately. When he got to the room, he gently placed her on the bed, as he inspected her body and his anger immediately resurfaced when he saw older wounds on her face and body. Also she had lost a lot of weight, and her complexion was dull.
'What did they even do to her? And why?' Many questions were piling up in his mind but at this moment, Sandhya's health was more important than any answers,'
''Why is the damn doctor not here yet!'' Abhimaan roared at one of the maid who appeared with a big bowl of warm water and cloths.
''Maharaj, the doctor is on the way.'' The maid answered, her voice trembling, she was clearly afraid of the king's wrath.
Soon after the doctor rushed in, his steps came to a halt seeing his king and he bowed in respect.
''Don't be wasting your time doctor and start my wife's treatement immediately." He yelled at the doctor who rushed to start examine Sandhya's body. Abhimaan kneeled on the bed beside her and inspected her face. There were old blood clot wounds, her face was dull and she became thin in an unhealthy way.
"How did all of this happen?" He asked to himself.
"How did all this happen?" He roared and the servants jumped in fear. They were scared of revealing the truth to the king whose anger was already like an erupting volcano.
Running in the room came Raj mata Padma with worry filled in her eyes. Abhimaan reached her in four long strides.
"I left my wife under your watch and protection. Then how did this happened? Do I have absolutely no one in this kingdom that I Can trust my life with, not even my own mother?" He demanded angrily.
"Abhi, I did not know about Sandhya's condition. I have just returned to the kingdom this morning and..."
"And since morning, you did not even bother to check on my wife, knowing how many people despise her here and are always wishing the worse for her?" He asked and Padma lowered her eyes in guilt. Bhavna was successful in making her belive that everything was fine and she ended up believing her daughter, forgetting her unbreakable bond Bhavna had with her grandmother.
"I failed you Abhi, please forgive me." Padma requested.
"Will forgiving you rewind time and take away my Sandhya's pain and wounds?" Abhimaan's tone was defeated because he realised that there was absolutely no one with whom his wife could stay safe and sound. And that scared him. Being the king of such a grand kingdom means he has to be away from home more than half a year to fulfill his different duties but how will he able to go away if the love of his life was not safe in his own home.
Silence filled the room. Padma did not know how to answer his question. Abhimaan walked away from his mother, her silence being her answer to his question and sat beside his wife's unconscious body.
"Doctor, tell me about her state."
"Maharaj, the queen is quite critical. She has lost quite some blood. She is severely malnourished and dehydrated. If she does not regain consciousness in the next twenty four hours then it can be fatal as well."
The doctor's statement made Abhimaan's rage peak up. And he threatened him.
"Doctor, if anything happens to my wife, I'll set fire to this place and you will also burn in its flames."
The doctor panicked.
"I'll try my best Maharaj but I need some herbs that is not available in this kingdom."
"Just ask Doctor, I'll bring an entire forest for the sake of my wife."
The doctor listed all the medicinal herbs and Abhimaan ordered his men to search all around and not to come empty handed.
