(This one might be added to in the future, I think it's cute)
I ran out of the castle, the sun shining brightly on my pale skin. I giggle as I stumble in the grass. I glance back at the castle garden entrance as I continue to run to the large oak tree.
I turned back to the tree slowing down as I approached. Looking up in awe at the great oak. I slowly clamber onto a thick low hanging branch. My small arms pulling me up.
I continue to climb branch to branch knowing my mother would never approve of me doing this. She would claim I was ruining my dress, and scraping my hands. But my young brain didn't care. I just wanted to touch the clouds. Get a little dirty. Feel free.
I reached one of the highest branches I could get to and decided to stop. I lowered down to my bottom and dangled my legs over the end of the branch. I rested my dirty hands on either side of me. I leaned my head back and let my dirty blonde hair flow down my back, gently moving with the wind. The sun shone on my face partially blocked by the leaves of the great oak.
The air smelt fresh like flowers and fresh rain. I swung my legs back and forth as I sunk further and further away from reality.
"Corley! Corley where are you!" I was startled from my thoughts looking down to see my mother looking around frantically by the entrance of the garden.
I giggle knowing she hadn't spotted me yet.
"Corley, I know you're out here, it's time to get inside. The Edevane's are coming today!" She cups her hands around her mouth to call out for me.
I sigh, why can't she just let me have some fun without some other kingdom or noble coming over? I begin to climb down the tree. Lightly scraping my hands on the rough branches as I ascend to the ground.
"Oh my goodness, Corley! Darling! What were you doing up there, you're so dirty!" My mother reached up and lifts my off the last branch. "We must get you cleaned up!" She set me down on the ground and took my hand in hers.
"Benson!" She called, her voice soft like a fluffy cloud drifting in the wind.
Benson walked calmly around the corner, "yes your majesty?"
"Can you take Corley to get a bath from the maids, she's filthy." My mother lifted me back up into her arms and handed me over to Benson.
"Of course your majesty." I sighed wrapping my arms and legs around Benson. My head resting on his shoulder as he began to walk to my room.
I glanced at all the bland paintings of my ancestors, same castle, same thrown room, same small smiles.
"Is everything alright Princess Corley?" We passed by a large window over looking the town within the kingdom walls.
"I'm not sure, why can't I play with swords like James? How come he gets to have fun while I have to stay with mother?" I could faintly see the people moving about the town, doing their daily lives. Children playing games, mothers shopping for food, merchants selling their goods.
"Well, Prince James is just that, a Prince. Him and you have very different roles in the royal family. He is preparing to defend and rule the kingdom, you are preparing to assist in ruling a kingdom and raising a family."
They all looked so happy and free. Even though I couldn't see their faces I could tell they were smiling.
"I want to be able to defend my kingdom." I spotted a mother holding her child's hand as she looked through some food a shop had set up.
"And you will be able to, just maybe not in the same way as your bother." We reached the end of the hall and took a right towards the stairs leading to the great hall.
