Time goes by in a blur and before they know it, it's already close to Christmas eve. 

Just like every year, they meet at Hoseok's to drive from there to the cottage he owns. It's in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by woods and wide fields. They love the romantic vibe it brings and it's only a three hour drive to reach from Seoul. They use Taehyung's van which has eight seats (nine, if you include the driver's) and a spacious trunk for the bags and other things. Seokjin however went ahead, to decorate the cozy little house for the holidays; having more days off than the others. He behaves like the Grinch if it doesn't turn out like he wants it to be, that's the reason why no one dares to stop him. 

Jeongguk arrives at Hoseok's house first and hugs his friend with a huge smile. "Hyung, I'm so excited. Are you going to bring Mickey this year?"

When hearing his name, the cute dog jumps up to the couch and lays down on Jeongguk's lap to be pet. Hoseok looks fondly at them before answering his question. "Unfortunately, no. My mom is gonna fetch him in an hour. He's getting too old to travel with us and can't see properly anymore. I don't wanna risk it." He gently squeezes Mickey's fluffy cheeks while making funny noises to distract himself from the sad topic. 

Jeongguk was about to say something when the doorbell rings, announcing the arrival of one of their other friends. 

Both stay seated, knowing very well that they're gonna let themselves in. As expected, the door opens and in comes Namjoon, followed by Jimin. 

"Who's my favorite dog?" Jimin doesn't waste a second. He drops his bag and scoops Mickey, who was stumbling over to them, up into his arms. 

"Ah, I suddenly miss Bam. I wonder how he's doing." Jeongguk looks at his lockscreen with a picture of Taehyung laughing, while playing with his Doberman. 

"It's been, what, twenty minutes?" Taehyung jokes, his deep voice makes them look at the door and Jeongguk immediately sprints over to him to hug his best friend tightly. They haven't seen each other since the barbecue three weeks ago. The older of them always visits his family in Daegu before he goes on the little vacation for the holidays with his best friends, who are like brothers to him. Well, except for one, he's definitely more than that. 

"Hyung, did you do it?" Jeongguk carefully asks in a whisper. What no one else knows, is that they have thought of a prank for the Secret Santa event. 

Taehyung grins, whispering back and uses the opportunity to get even closer to his crush. "What do you take me for, of course I did. I can't wait to see yours. Hope you'll draw Hobi. So tell me, what did you even get?"

"No, not telling. It's a secret." Jeongguk giggles, slapping Taehyung's chest playfully and if his hand lingers a little too long it's nobody's business but theirs. 

Yoongi shoves them more into the room after arriving as well. "Don't block the entrance, kids." He walks over to the others, "they're acting suspicious, if you ask me."

With a wave of his hand, Namjoon tells him to be silent, because Taehyung and Jeongguk are on their way to join them. Yoongi immediately shuts his mouth, he can't say what's on his tongue in their presence. 

"We're all here. Who wants to be the second driver? I didn't sleep well last night and it'd be great if someone could take over after an hour." Taehyung yawns exaggeratedly loudly to support his statement. It's early in the morning and he'd rather chill with Jeongguk in the backseat of his car. 

"Tae, just rest. I'll drive the entire way." Jimin takes the car key Taehyung is holding and after fetching his bag he leaves the house happily. 

"I'm gonna take the passenger seat!" With fast steps Namjoon follows him, almost forgetting about his own bag. He earns a raised eyebrow from Yoongi, who can't believe his forgetful friend.

Hoseok and Yoongi stay until the youngest ones leave as well and then turn off all the lights and lock the door after them. This is going to be a long week, hopefully with a lot of fun and a happy ending for the - fingers crossed - soon-to-be boyfriends. 

Taehyung, who's sitting in the last row with Jeongguk, immediately falls asleep on his shoulder. The rest of them read, play games on their phones or sleep, too. Jimin doesn't care, he had a peaceful night and can easily stay awake and attentive. He loves driving, especially Taehyung's big, comfortable car. The only thing he had to adjust was the seat and the mirrors, because his legs are shorter than his tall friend’s.
