Surprisingly, the day goes by way too fast and the night falls with all its glory. It's a pretty sky, clear and full of stars. Hoseok and Yoongi bought fireworks and sparkling wine for when the clock strikes midnight. Everything is ready and only twenty minutes until the new year comes. 

Jeongguk and Taehyung are glued together. They only part if one of them has to use the bathroom. Both become more nervous the closer it gets to midnight. 

Jimin nudges Namjoon to get his attention. "I think something is going to happen soon."

Namjoon hums, agreeing. "Yeah, and I think I know what that is. I have a feeling that we'll finally have a couple in our group by tomorrow." He has a small smile dancing on his lips. It's finally happening. 

Taehyung can't keep his hands off of Jeongguk. He squeezes his arms to make him show his muscles or plays with the many earrings, flipping his chin and playfully slapping his bum. 

Jeongguk lets him do it. He loves it, to be honest. Having Taehyung all over him is what he has always wanted. It's not like they didn't do such things in the past, but it was never to this extent. He could definitely get used to it. 

It's finally time and everyone gathers outside the house, with sparkling wine in one hand and fireworks in the other. They count down to zero and then wish everyone a happy New Year with the living room clock striking midnight. Taehyung and Jeongguk put the items down to hold each other in their arms, looking up to the sky. They turn their heads at the same time and their hearts begin to beat faster. It's perfect. Both lean in slowly and in sync. The kiss is passionate and they can't get enough of one another. Even as their friends begin to ignite the fireworks, they don't stop. Both being in their own little world. 

Jeongguk leans back first after a while. He smiles lovingly at Taehyung and steals a peck. "Hyung." Slightly nervous, he begins to whisper so that only Taehyung can hear him. "I was waiting for this moment to tell you how much I like you. I have a feeling that it's mutual, if I interpreted all the kissing and affection you showed towards me right. Please correct me if I'm wrong so I can stop embarrassing myself." When nothing but an endearing smile comes from the other, which is telling him to continue, he does after breathing in deeply, "Hyung, would you want to be my boyfriend?" There he finally said it. Jeongguk closes his eyes, hates the silence coming from Taehyung, but he doesn't regret asking. It was time and even if he is going to say no, he would do the same thing again if he could turn back time. 

Taehyung is just waiting for him to open his eyes to give him an answer. When after a few seconds Jeongguk still has them shut, he can't help but chuckle. "Gukkie, please look at me." 

Slowly Jeongguk opens them, vision at first a little blurry, but after seconds he can see the handsome man clearly. He just stares, not daring to say a word, being too afraid to stutter. 

"Thank you, baby." Taehyung is pulling him in, chest touching and breathing mingling. "I want nothing more than to be your boyfriend. Actually, if you hadn’t been faster I would've asked you." He grins at the surprised expression Jeongguk shows. Why is he even surprised, wasn't it obvious? He himself knew that after today they'd be together. All the signs were there these past days and when he's honest, they were there for years, but he still had doubts sometimes. "Say something, please."

This seems to do the trick to bring Jeongguk out of his stare. He clears his throat, licks over his lips and leans in. 

They kiss again, even more passionate than before. Both ignore the clapping and congratulations from their friends. They're too happy to part, enjoying every move of their lips and tongues. Taehyung has his palms resting on Jeongguk's hips, while Jeongguk has his fingers fisting Taehyung's soft locks at the back of his head. 

Yoongi tells everyone to leave them alone. All the fireworks are already used and it's creepy to watch them in such an intimate moment. Hoseok, who has the widest smile of all, doesn't want to leave. They're too cute and he wants to take pictures, maybe even short videos to remember this moment. 

"Let him be, hyung. I'm sure Tae and Guk will love to have some memories to look at." Namjoon pulls Yoongi inside, leaving Hoseok to do his thing. 

Hoseok mouths a 'thank you' to him, before he pulls his phone out to take some pictures from a reasonable distance. 

Taehyung begins to shiver from the cold. Not even Jeongguk's body heat can keep him warm enough. He doesn't want to get sick and even though he hates to interrupt this perfect moment, he has to. "Let's go inside, hmm?" He asks with a gentle voice and soft eyes. 

Jeongguk nods. He follows Taehyung, but sees Hoseok with his phone directed at them. "Share it with me." With a wink he enters the house. 

Hoseok stops recording and is immediately sending all the pictures and the video to both of them. He's glad to be of help. 

The rest of their friends are sitting in the living room, drinking and chatting happily. As soon as they see the pair, though, they stop to look expectantly at them. Jimin is the one who breaks first. "Are you both now official?"

Taehyung squeezes Jeongguk's hand. "Official boyfriends and very happy."

"We finally confessed, yeah." Jeongguk laughs. They sit down, too, sharing the one seater. Taehyung makes himself comfortable on his lap, arms wrapped around his neck. 

The rest of the night is spent telling stories about how obvious they always were, making the new couple blush, groan and laugh. With no doubt, this is the best New Year's Eve they've ever had and will be forever burned in their minds. 

After one more day and a very intimate night for Taehyung and Jeongguk, which may or may not include some lace lingeries, they're back home. Nothing much changes, except that they now kiss and tell one another how much they love each other. It feels incredibly good to be able to finally do that. 

As they sit in their shared apartment months later, bickering over which movie to watch, they know that they did everything right. Even their dogs Yeontan and Bam became inseparable. 

Like every couple, they also sometimes have arguments. Fortunately, they learn how to settle it without much damage. It's definitely different living together while arguing, instead of having their own space to go to, to avoid each other. All in all, Jeongguk and Taehyung became a very domestic pair. They've never stopped showing off how much they love one another even after years. New Years will always be special for them and even though they can't celebrate it in Hoseok's cottage forever, it doesn't matter as long as they have each other.
