"Daddy!" I Rushed into my father's loving embrace. "I thought you and mommy weren't coming back until a few more days?"
He smiled. "Our business trip was cut short,"

"Hey," He stroked my cheeks softly. "If you're worried about us not being here for your birthday don't worry, we wouldn't miss it for the world." He gave me a kiss on the forehead, then picked me up in his arms and I smiled.

"I do sweetie, now let's go home. your mother is excited to see you."

"Mommy!" I yelled as I rushed Into the kitchen.
"There's my little sunshine!" She picked me up and spun me around then started kissing all over my face.
"Hahah! Mommy, stop. That tickles!"
She gave me one last kiss on the forehead then smiled. "I know but I just can't help it, especially when I see those bright cheeks of Yours!" She pinched my cheek.
"Daddy says you're going to be home for my birthday!"
"That's right We wouldn't miss it for the world, I can't believe my baby's turning Six!" She started giving me a bunch more kisses.
"Mommy stop! Hahaha!" I tried to push her face away.

She bent down and cupped my cheeks. "Are the other kids still making fun of you?" I slowly nodded. "Oh Sweetie I'm sorry,"
"Why do they? I don't understand." Tears had started to well open my eyes.
She brought me into a tight hug and stroked my hair, "I don't know Honey kids can be mean sometimes."
"but why?"
"No one knows, No one knows why kids or people do the things they do, I wish I could tell you I really do sweetie."
"They call me a nerd, And say I'm weird!" I sobbed in her shoulder.
"Sweetie you're not a nerd, you're gifted," She tilted my head up And looked me in the eyes. "You have to remember That you're smarter than other kids, Kids your age should be starting the 1st grade yet you're in the 2nd."
"I know. I just I wish they would stop mommy, it hurts my feelings."
"Oh, Sweetie it's Okay." She stroked my cheek. "It will be okay."
"How do you know?"
She smiled widely. "Because I'm your mother, and a mother always knows, And as long as I love you, you will be Okay."
I smiled and Wiped some of my tears away. "You mean that?"
