"Walter, what the hell just happened?" Hammond asked.

Walter was as stunned, as was the rest, but he soon snapped back, "I don't know, sir. Running gate diagnostics as we speak."

"It looks like some sort of energy spike came through the gate. Perhaps it was a gate malfunctioning of some sort." Teal'c said offering his own explanation.

"I have never seen anything like this." Walter chimed in. "There was a massive bolt of energy coming from the other side of the gate."

"Can you tell if Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter were inside the wormhole when this energy spike happened?"

"There's no way of telling, sir."

"They might not be able to get to the DHD. We have to go back!" Daniel suggested as the fear of his team being captured or even worse, killed, started clouding his thoughts.

"Daniel Jackson is right. We must return immediately." Teal'c said gripping his staff weapon, backing him up.

"I can't just send you back into a hot zone without any more information!"

"Then send other SG teams with us to cover us!" Daniel plead.

"Son, slow down." Hammond kindly ordered.

"No, we can't slow down! Every minute they are out there they are closer to being in enemy hands or dying by them. We have to go now!" He said waving his hand towards the gate trying to make his point.

General Hammond hesitates for a moment but grabs the phone and orders SG-3 and SG-12 to gear up and get to the Gate Room. He turns his attention to Walter. "Is the gate still working?"

"Gate diagnostics are still running, sir. 3 minutes."

"Good, I want you to reestablish a wormhole to P3X-854 as soon as possible." Walter nods.

A minute later Colonel Reynolds, geared up and ready, made his way up to the control room. "What's going on, sir?"

"We have lost contact with Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter. SG-1 were under heavy weapons fire by the Goa'uld when the gate malfunctioned. We are currently reestablishing a wormhole to P3X-854. I need you to aid assistance and covering fire. As soon as we have eyes on the situation you'll have a go, colonel."

In the background Walter had started calling out the chevrons one by one as the gate locked in the planet's address. SG-3 and SG-12 made their way to the Gate Room. Colonel Reynolds nodded and joined his team, SG-3, in the Gate Room to brief both teams on the situation.

Daniel and Teal'c were still at control room when Walter called out, "Chevron 7: locked." and the Stargate whooshes to life.

"Everyone, standby." Hammond orders through the speakers. "Is the MALP working?" he asked Walter.

"Receiving MALP telemetry, sir. It's on it's side, but the camera is still working."

Judging by the static interference the monitors were showing, the MALP took a lot of damage, but the open field seemed to be deserted once again. Just in case it wasn't, they could take cover behind the many ruins there if need be. The camera panned to the gate and then back to the tree lines. No one.

"SG's 3 and 12, coast is clear. You have a go." He turns to Daniel and Teal'c. "Be careful out there." Daniel and Teal'c nodded and hastily made their way to the Stargate. "Bring them home." General Hammond said as he watched them disappear through the gate.

Upon arrival SG-3 and 12 had secured the immediate perimeter. The Jaffa were gone, but there was no sign of O'Neill or Carter.

Reynolds joined Daniel and Teal'c as soon as they arrived through the Stargate, the gate shutting off right after.

"Oh my god." Daniel breathed out. Reynolds looked around him with a quizzical look when Daniel continues, "This field... was green."

There was a radius of about 30 meters around the Stargate where the once so green grass had turned brown. As if the life has been sucked from it. The ground beneath them felt like it was crumbling with every step they took.

"It appears the energy blast that had caused the gate to shut down originated from here." Teal'c said as he took his staff weapon and turned his gaze towards the tree lines. He knew very well the Goa'uld do not possess such weapons with this much power that they can just carry around, nor have an Al'Kesh or Death Gliders flying in the skies fitted with them.
"The Goa'uld must not believe anyone would survive this blast. If they did, they would surely still be here." he said with his eyes still scanning the tree lines where they emerged from earlier.

"Alright, listen up." Colonel Reynolds speaks up as leader of the SG teams. "SG-12, contact SGC and bring them up to speed. Secure the gate but stay out sight. SG-3, spread out and search the perimeter for any signs of SG-1. Teal'c and Daniel, you're with me. We're gonna check out that village just in case they have been taken there. We meet back here in 2 hours. Keep radio contact to a minimal."

The teams said their "Yes, sir. " and carried out the orders given.

After about two hours the teams gathered back at the gate. Apart from a Jaffa patrol the little village was completely empty. No sign of their missing teammates. In order to not provoke any unwanted attention they then returned.

"Jackson." Reynolds walked back after speaking with his team. "SG-3 has checked the entire perimeter. If they were here, we would've found them."

"No.. they must be here."

Reynolds sighs knowing what this could mean. "Either the Goa'uld took them or... I mean from the time of the energy blast to us gating back here.. it took what? 5 minutes?"

"H- H- How?" Daniel said before crouching down and taking a piece of earth in his hands." I- I- mean.. as far as we know.. the Goa'uld do not have anything even remotely resembling weapons with this kind of destructive force." He said as bits of the brown grass turns to dust between his fingers. "No... no, they are not here because they made it through the gate. Somehow or.. someway, the energy blast just caused them to end up somewhere else."

"It has occurred once before." Teal'c agrees with Daniel.

"Exactly! So we need to get a research team up here to run a- a- a diagnostic on the gate." He said pointing wildly at the Stargate. "To see if they can find some sort of, I dunno, safety world they gated to instead of Earth."

"Alright, you heard the man. Let's bring the SGC up to speed. Peterson, dial the gate."
