There comes a time in your life when you have to put all your ducks in a row.
You have to get your life together.
Through trauma and tragedy, life trudges on.
It waits on no one.
You get older with each passing minute, never younger, forever aging.
You learn, you fail, you go through ups and downs.
We feel.
Everything.
Sadness, anger, happiness, frustration, stress.
Heartbreak, love, heartbreak again.
Those negative things nag at you.
Each and every day.
Those bad things that happened to you.
Constantly.
Nag at you.
You can't find anyone to blame but yourself.
You made the decision to drink.
You made the decision to be around them.
You made the decision to want to be loved by them.
Your decisions.
Your fault.
But God did you want to be loved.
Loved in any form.
You wanted them to make you believe they were your family.
You wanted them to make you believe they were your best friend.
You wanted them to make you believe they cared about you.
So you sacrificed.
You gave yourself away piece by piece.
You learned with each piece.
Slowly but surely.
That something was not right.
So you built a wall around yourself.
With each piece they took.
With each piece you gave.
The wall got taller and thicker.
You don't want to be touched.
You don't want affection.
You don't want to give yourself to anyone ever again.
But you do.
Again and again.
You get used.
For new friends, for alcohol, for sex, for affection they can't find elsewhere.
You are a pawn.
You are a pawn amongst kings and queens.
To be used as seen fit.
You made a mistake.
You love too hard.
You are too desperate to be loved.
You will build up your wall again.
You will get through it.
It will leave a nasty mark.
But you will get through it.
Whether it's in a good or a bad way.
You will learn.
You will learn.
You will learn.
