Confrontation

"Where the hell is Kat?" I demanded as Felix dragged me through the doorway to where Omega was sat. Where he was also sat. I hadn't realised how annoying that was until right now. He also didn't look too pleased with me, his face a completely blank mask but those dark eyes gleaming with anger and malice.

"I pulled her out of the dungeon, again." Felix snapped, marching me forward to be within ten feet of Obsivian. The urge to attack him was rising, but I had to get answers from him now.

"You have broken our promise, Sadie. Sit her down and bind her in place." He instructed to Felix, who immediately bodily picked me up and carried me over to my usual seat, no doubt knowing that I wasn't in a mood to comply. The metal restraints were well hidden on the arms of the chair, but they held me tight all the same.

"I broke the promise? Yeah, you know what, maybe I did. But unless you have power over time and went back to hurt Kat, you broke our deal first." I snapped at him, my hands balled into fists. Obsivian winced ever so slightly, but it was Felix stepping back and out of my vision that really told me I was onto something.

"Technically I did no such thing, girl. I had already dealt with the earth girl before we made our bargain, and since then I have not interacted her, just as our deal dictated." He contradicted me, and I felt my nostrils flare with anger. I hated that. I hated people who weaselled around words so much, because I never had the patience to look for every loophole. But if he was opening up these possibilities now, who was I to deny the opportunity?

"Well, if we're going on technicalities, how did I break our deal? There was nothing in there saying I had to stay in my room at night, or not crawl through the vents, or not to talk to my parents. What have I done wrong?" I asked him back, my voice vindictive and angry. I watched as anger flashed across his face for a moment, before it was replaced with the same cool look and a forced smile.

"Very well, my dear, I suppose that you are correct. However, given we both know that the other has broken the spirit of the agreement, what comes next?" He asked me, and I realised that that tiny victory had indeed been just that- a very small, and ultimately worthless victory. He still held all the power and had my parents, so I could argue technicalities as much as I wanted, it would do me no good.

"You're the one making decisions around here. What are you asking me for?" I asked him. A sly smile passed over his face as he regarded me.

"Here's the thing, Sadie, I still want you to work with me. You are my grandchild, the only piece of my legacy I still feel I have a chance to work with. Therefore, I will give you more chances than I would give anyone else, but that being said I can only have so much patience with you. Granddaughter or not, I cannot allow you to ruin what I have been working towards for millennia. So, I need you to talk to me. Why don't you want to work with me? Let me understand you." He appealed to me, and for once I considered what I should say rather than just blurting out the first curse that popped into my head.

"I don't want to work with you because I don't want anything to do with this war. It has nothing to do with me, I never asked to be the child of time-" I began to explain, only for Obsivian to interrupt me.

"A lot of people don't ask to be special, but they are anyway and they must deal with the consequences that come with it. Besides, it's not like you haven't enjoyed yourself with the powers you were given; by my count, almost a decade of zipping about and going on adventures with your best friend who you wouldn't have even met without your powers. You have had all the fun that your position allows for, and now you need to keep up the responsibility." He chided me, and I frowned at him.

"Alright, say I buy into that. I don't, but say that I do. Why do I have to fight this war anyway? Like, I don't even know how it began, and I doubt that you or Consequences are willing to tell me why-" I started, only for him to cut me off with a surprisingly genuine smile.
