"The local police is still searching for the reason of the fire, but have yet to be successful. There are several rumours that the fire was a setup to restore trust in the NYPD, which has gotten more than a little Criticism for not acting in the face of the murder of several tourists; all had an immigrant background. Though we don't know what caused the fire down on 6th street, none of us believe that the NYPD will ever find the cause- or the culprit. Helia Stone, Brooklyn"

A jet of golden fire flew through the room, and the little radio on the table exploded.

Control your magic, Ana

Ana sat down and sighed. A few days ago, everything had been all right. She had had a life, a friend, and no connection to the Downworld whatsoever. But now...

Ana remembered how she had been back then. Magnus had sent her another note, saying that she under no circumstances should come to that party as her Mundane self. She would come as Anatolia Bane, daughter of one of the most powerful warlocks in the world. The girl she had been then, had known exactly what she was worth, exactly what she wanted. But after Aster-

She sighed and made her way to the table to scramble up everything that had been left of her radio. Her only way of information except Alia, who only read MTV.

Suddenly, the bell rang. Probably Alia. She sighed and went over to the speaker.

"Who is this?" she asked moodily.

But instead of Alia's energetic, high and feminine voice, she heard a man.

"Um Hi, this is Alec Lightwood. Does Anatolia Bane live here?"

"Lightwood. We are supposed to meet on Friday. Until then you can piss off and tell Magnus that his feeble attempt at trying to turn me into his lapdog again won't succeed.W

"Well, I'm sorry, I don't want to be an inconvenience, but I insist on speaking with you."

"Ugh, you know, never mind. I'm not in the mood to argue with a Shadowhunter today. Hold on."

She didn't know how, but somehow she managed to press the little green button and unlock the door.

A few moments later Anatolia Bane was having tea with a Shadowhunter.

"So he told you that I knew you were coming, but he knew I didn't so this feels like a setup."

Alec couldn't help but smile. He had expected Magnus' daughter to be someone more- sparkly. This girl was stern, serious and wore a plain, grey hoodie. Normal. Her warlock marks were glamoured and even though Alec really wanted to know what they were, he understood a warlock's choice not to show their heritage.

"So how long has it been since- the incident?" he asked, hoping he hadn't hit any sensitive spots with in the placid warlock.

"Almost two centuries. why do you want to know? Am I not what you expected?"

"Well, I don't know what I expected. Magnus told me that you've lived as a mundane for over 100 years. How did you survive? I mean, maybe it's not a good example but if I had to live without my runes for so long- I'd die"

She raised an eyebrow

"You wouldn't die. You'd just loose the will to live. There's a difference."

After a few moments of silence Alec asked tentatively: "But I mean you're ok with us being- you know?"

"Dude, I've lived through most of Magnus' lovers. Men, women and a lot of other undefinable somethings. But then, he had to live in secret, afraid of what society would do to his then-lover if they found out. You're lucky to live in a world were you two can just be. Incredibly lucky."

Alec nodded and sat down on her couch. He didn't know what it was, but he liked Anatolia Bane, and it almost made him sad to know that they would never see each other again after Friday.

"So, tell me about Magnus as a father", he said, smiling. She rolled her eyes and sat down next to him.

"Well, he was a horrible father, I can tell you. And don't even get me started on..

I don't know what to think of him. Magnus loves him very much. But I don't know about him. He's different from other Shadowhunters. I hope that he doesn't break his heart. It won't end well for him. I hope he's not just another lover. I hope, I hope but I do not know. I do not know.
