You felt an uncomfortable pain, feeling as if you were on fire. "Y/N! Are you alright?" That voice belonged to your fallen friend. "I'm fine. You, I feel myself falling asleep." Your friend shook his head and hugged you tightly.

"I'm sorry."

You shot up from where you were laying. The moon was still out but you could tell that daybreak was soon to come. Xiao was slumped against one of the tent's poles while the traveler and Paimon slept soundly next to each other. Well more like Paimon was laying on top of the Aether as the blond slept.

Xiao opened one eye, nudging you with the sole of his boot. "Bad dream?" He asked softly, you nodded your head as you laid back in his lap. "You could've taken it away for me." You said, shifting your head in his lap.

"Ridiculous, how can I take your dream if it was so short?" Xiao asked, raising his dark brow. You looked up at him from where you lay. "You tell me, you're the one who makes good dreams turn into good."

Xiao let out a grunt, leaning forward so he was making eye contact with you. "Out of all the Adepti, you are the only one who chooses to insult me." He said with a smirk.

"No way, Xiao did you just smirk?" The Yaksha was caught off guard and looked away immediately. "You smirked, don't worry you looked cool while doing it." Xiao rolled his eyes, he often did that whenever you tried to flatter him.

"I'm sleepy," You said, interrupting the silence. Xiao turned back at you with a confused expression. "Must you slumber every minute of the day? Don't you have more important things to do?" The Yaksha said in the most non-sassy tone possible.

"You are supposed to be slaying demons, no?" You retorted, shifting in his lap. "I would if someone would get off my lap and let me do my work in peace." Xiao hummed, his elbows positioned on both sides of your head.

"Your breath smells like Osmanthus and almonds."

"You could've just said that I was in company with Zhongli." You laughed, one that Xiao could get used to. "You're really sweet, I don't understand why you put up a mean front." You picked up both of your hands and started squishing his cheeks.

"Be-cwause dis burden is mwine to bwear," Xiao said as you squished and stretched his cheeks till they grew red. "Well dwen, why dwont you let me bwear it wif you." You mocked, Xiao frowned yet you continued to play with his soft cheeks.

"Wayfarer," Xiao whispered, warmth growing inside of his heart.

"HELP!!!" You two quickly look in the direction where the cry for help was being called.

You quickly jumped up, going to summon your polearm before Xiao gripped your wrist.
"Don't, I sense danger," You froze then heard the same voice ring through the hills outside of the Adepti lands.

"There's always danger when it comes rescuing, stay here and watch the other two." Was your response before you quickly followed the voice. You saw footsteps in the now damp dirt and grass.

Only for the trail to stop, you cautiously looked around. You summoned your weapon and continued to walk forward. Suddenly you hear the sound of something propelling.

The sound of whatever was flapping in the wind caught you off guard as you looked up. What seemed to be a net was thrown off the top of the cliff.
