Lucy the Librarian

A little girl came up to the counter

With questions, books, and playful banter.

Lucy smiled and asked what she was getting.

A mouse book, which would be good, the kid was betting.

"Do you have any suggestions?"

Lucy types on the computer, following her question,

Finding a couple novels that'd feed her obsession,

And printed them out to show the selections.

"These look good!" The girl exclaimed,

Taking the paper and engraving them in her brain.

The child was excited and happy to read,

Giving her parents some room to breathe.

The girl smiled, loving Lucy the most,

Who gave her lots of books, she'd boast.

A reader she was, a writer, you'd see

Because that little girl was actually me.
